Compensation: $54k – $70k • No equity

Contract, long term | $35-45/hr USD

Who we are I'm Jon, founder of LifecycleX. We're a lifecycle marketing agency for product-led SaaS companies. Small team, I'm based in Denver, and we're certified partners with both Customer.io and Hightouch.

To give a little context on what we do. Our clients have a real product, real usage data, and a lifecycle program that isn't keeping up with either. Usually the marketing team knows exactly what they want to send, they just can't access the product data to send it, because engineering is heads down on the roadmap and marketing's requests sit in the queue. We come in with our own strategy and our own engineering, fix the data layer, then build the campaigns on top of it.

The role You'd own client engagements end to end. Strategy, the roadmap, and the relationship.

Practically that means you're the one meeting with a VP of Growth walking through why their activation flow is leaking, what we're going to build, and what we think it'll move. You'd run our Blueprint engagements, turn what you find into a build plan, then drive that plan to launch.

You wouldn't be building all of it yourself. We have a lifecycle marketing manager who handles execution and would report into you on client work, and a data engineer you'd pull in for anything heavy on the infrastructure side.

Right now I'm the one sitting in this seat. I need to hand this off so I can put my time into partnerships and new business.

What you'd own

  • Blueprint engagements - Audit the current program, map the gaps, build the recommendation, present it.
  • Lifecycle strategy across the journey - Onboarding, activation, trial to paid, expansion, winback.
  • Product analytics - Funnels, cohorts, and retention analysis in Amplitude, Mixpanel, or PostHog. You're the one finding which behaviors correlate with activation and conversion, then turning those into the triggers we build against.
  • Journey architecture - Triggers, segmentation, branching logic, experiment design.
  • The client relationship - Weekly calls, roadmap reviews, performance readouts, and the occasional hard conversation when something isn't working.
  • Directing our lifecycle marketing manager - Briefing her, project manage, reviewing her builds, QA before anything ships.
  • Scoping the data requirements - You decide what events and attributes the program needs, our data engineer builds.
  • Performance reporting - What ran, what moved, what we're doing next.

What you'd work in

Customer.io most days. We also touch Amplitude, Mixpanel, PostHog, Hightouch, Segment, HubSpot, and whatever warehouse the client happens to run.

What we're looking for

  • 4+ years in lifecycle, CRM, or marketing automation. At least 2 of those in B2B SaaS.
  • Deep hands-on time in Customer.io, Braze, or Iterable. You've architected multi-branch journeys, not just built and sent emails.
  • You get data models. Events vs. attributes vs. objects, identity resolution, why a trigger doesn't fire when it should.
  • Hands-on in a product analytics tool. Amplitude, Mixpanel, or PostHog. You can build a funnel, cut a cohort, and tell the difference between a real activation signal and a vanity metric.
  • SQL literacy. You can read a query, understand a schema, and tell an engineer exactly what you need from them.
  • Comfortable with APIs, webhooks, and Liquid or something like it.
  • Fluent, natural English. You'll be on camera with US-based VPs every week, so this one matters.
  • You've owned a client or a stakeholder before. You can present work, take pushback, and hold a point of view.
  • Within about 3 hours of US Mountain Time.

Nice to have:

  • Reverse ETL or CDP experience. Hightouch, Census, Segment, RudderStack, PostHog.
  • dbt or any warehouse modeling.
  • A migration under your belt. Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Marketo, or HubSpot into a modern ESP.
  • PLG specifically. Free trials, freemium, usage-based expansion.
  • Agency or consulting background.

One thing worth being clear on... We're not asking you to stand up a CDP or write production pipelines. Our clients almost always have internal engineering for that, and we have a data engineer for everything else. We need you fluent enough in that layer to scope it, spec it, and hold your own on a call with a client's engineering team.

The setup

  • $35-45/hr USD depending on experience - That's roughly $55-70K a year at 30 hours a week. Expect to start below that and grow into it as we bring on more clients.
  • Room to grow toward full-time hours as we bring on more clients
  • Independent contractor. You invoice us, we pay through Wise.
  • Remote and async for the most part, with a handful of fixed client calls during US business hours

I'm looking for someone who's building their own consulting practice and wants a steady anchor client, not someone filling the gap until the next full-time job lands.
