As a Senior Linux and UNIX Systems Administrator – DevOps Infrastructure, you will be working for our client, a leader in enterprise IT solutions within highly regulated industries. You will be instrumental in configuring, supporting, and optimizing critical Linux (primarily RHEL) and Solaris server environments. Your main responsibilities:

  • Configure, deliver, and support Linux (RHEL) and Solaris server environments within a DevOps framework.
  • Collaborate with application and DevOps pods to deploy and maintain centrally provided services ensuring stability and reliability.
  • Provide ongoing operational support across live and non-live environments, maintaining SLAs and improving service quality.
  • Drive automation initiatives by scripting (Shell / Perl / Python) to streamline routine tasks and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Advise on UNIX/Linux design best practices throughout project cycles, including build, ITSA, and implementation phases.
  • Develop and update standards and procedures for capacity management, reviewing SLAs to assess capacity risks and adjusting demands accordingly.
  • Analyze, document, and implement change requests translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Support incident troubleshooting, conduct root cause analysis to prevent recurrence, and improve overall system stability.
  • Work closely with infrastructure, application, and support teams, providing expert guidance and consultancy.

You’re ideal for this role if you have:

  • 6+ years of Linux server administration experience, primarily with RHEL, in enterprise environments.
  • Industry-standard UNIX certifications.
  • Proven expertise in Linux architecture, including volume managers, multipathing, and kernel tuning.
  • Strong scripting skills (Shell / Perl / Python) for automation.
  • Extensive troubleshooting experience with Veritas Volume Manager and Veritas Cluster Server.
  • Solid infrastructure background with x86 hardware, virtualization (VMware, Citrix, Hyper-V), and storage (NAS, EMC SAN, replication).
  • Operational knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/UDP, LAN/WAN, F5, firewalls, Cisco).
  • Experience working in highly regulated or major enterprise environments (e.g., Financial Services).
  • Familiarity with DevOps / configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working effectively across multiple teams.
  • Strong self-management skills, prioritization, and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Good understanding of operational disciplines (ITIL concepts beneficial).

It is a strong plus if you have:

  • SLES and Solaris x86/SPARC experience.
