Senior Linux Engineer
Summary
Administer and optimize enterprise Linux environments (RHEL/Oracle) for a data center migration, ensuring infrastructure stability and performance. Tasks include server maintenance, app platform support, automation with Ansible, and troubleshooting.
We are looking for a Senior Linux Engineer to support a large-scale Data Centre Migration programme involving critical payment processing platforms. The role focuses on administering and optimising enterprise Linux environments, supporting migration activities, ensuring infrastructure stability, and working closely with application, middleware, and infrastructure teams to deliver a reliable and secure production environment.
Responsibilities
- Administration, configuration, and maintenance of enterprise Linux server environments
- Supporting application platforms running on Linux infrastructure
- Building and preparing infrastructure environments for migration activities
- Monitoring system performance, reliability, and availability
- Diagnosing and resolving infrastructure issues affecting application environments
- Supporting environment build, configuration, and access preparation for migration phases
- Working closely with application, middleware, and infrastructure teams during migration execution
- Maintaining operational documentation and technical knowledge in Confluence
Requirements
- Advanced Linux system administration experience
- Strong experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux or Oracle Linux
- Experience supporting application servers such as JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, OHS, WildFly, or Spring Boot environments
- Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Rundeck or Ansible
- Experience with Linux monitoring, performance analysis, and troubleshooting
- Experience with scripting using Bash or Python
- Knowledge of IP networking and infrastructure concepts
Nice to have
- Understanding of cryptography topics including PKI and PGP
- Experience supporting high availability or high transaction environments
- Understanding of infrastructure concepts including networking, load balancing, and TLS
- Experience supporting application or infrastructure migration programmes
- Strong collaboration skills with international engineering teams
