Senior M&E Project Engineer (JB Data Centre)

About the role

We're hiring a Senior M&E Project Engineer to join our client in Johor, based at a data centre facility. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial strategic role in overseeing mechanical and electrical projects from conception through to completion. As a Senior M&E Project Engineer, you will be responsible for managing complex infrastructure projects, ensuring optimal performance, safety compliance, and cost efficiency. This role is integral to the successful operation and expansion of the data centre facilities.

Key responsibilities

Lead and manage end-to-end mechanical and electrical projects, including design, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning phases

Develop project schedules, budgets and resource plans, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget

Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including contractors, suppliers, consultants and internal stakeholders

Conduct site inspections and quality assurance audits to ensure compliance with technical specifications and safety standards

Prepare detailed technical documentation, including project proposals, drawings, specifications and as-built records

Manage risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to address potential project challenges

Monitor and control project changes, variations and associated costs

Liaise with clients and stakeholders to provide regular project updates and address concerns

Mentor and supervise junior engineers and technical staff on the project team

Ensure compliance with local regulations, building codes and industry standards throughout all project phases

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline

Minimum 5-8 years of professional experience in mechanical and electrical project management, with at least 1-2 years in a data centre project.

Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, power distribution, cooling systems and electrical infrastructure

Proficiency in project management software and tools, such as Microsoft Project, AutoCAD or similar platforms

Professional qualifications such as PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification

Strong leadership and team management capabilities with the ability to motivate and develop staff

Problem-solving ability and attention to detail in managing complex technical projects
