We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Technical Consultant to join our team. You will support enterprise-wide initiatives as a specialist in mainframe automation, including product migrations and optimization projects.
This role is for you if you enjoy working on large-scale, industry-leading products and want a job that mixes deep technical work with customer-facing B2B delivery. You bring real expertise in mainframe automation platforms, strong systems programming experience and the confidence to deliver in front of customers.

This is an expert hire.
We need someone who has already installed, run and converted mainframe automation products in production, and who can be productive on a customer engagement from the start. Candidates who would need training on automation products or z/OS fundamentals will not be considered.RESPONSIBILITIES
What you will do
Deliver end-to-end mainframe automation projects, including conversions from third-party tools to BMC solutions, and provide technical help to our enterprise customers.
Design, implement and optimize mainframe automation solutions that match business and operational requirements.
Carry out tooling conversions, for example from Broadcom or IBM solutions to the BMC AMI suite, with minimal disruption and maximum efficiency.
Work with project managers, customers and technical teams to make sure projects are delivered successfully.
Write and maintain clear, complete technical documentation, including design artifacts and deployment and testing strategies.
Track project progress and make sure milestones, timelines and quality standards are met.
Give technical guidance and support to less experienced team members where needed.
Act as a customer-facing consultant who can explain technical concepts in terms of business value.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex mainframe automation issues.
REQUIREMENTS
What you bring
Core technical skills
Systems programming. Deep knowledge of z/OS environments and strong mainframe systems programming (SYSPROG) skills.
Installation and maintenance. Experience installing and maintaining mainframe automation products, ideally BMC AMI Ops, using SMP/E and JCL.
REXX. Strong REXX scripting for automation and operational tooling.
State management. Knowledge of SSM (System State Manager) and Total Object Manager (TOM).
Automation tools. Hands-on production experience with at least one of Broadcom OPS/MVS, IBM AF/OPER or BMC AMI Ops Automation. Experience with more than one is a strong advantage.
Specialist experience
A proven track record of end-to-end product migration or conversion projects, particularly from competitor tools to BMC solutions.
Experience designing and implementing automation strategies and monitoring frameworks.
Professional skills
Strong customer-facing and stakeholder management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Ability to produce high-quality documentation.

EDUCATION
Education and certification
A degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. BMC AMI product certifications are an advantage.
