Summary

Develops and maintains mission-critical mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, CICS, and z/OS for regulated industries like banking and insurance.

As a Software Engineering - Web Developer, you will work on the development and maintenance of mission‑critical business applications running on IBM Mainframe technologies. The role focuses on designing and implementing COBOL‑based solutions, analyzing business requirements, optimizing existing applications, and ensuring the reliability and performance of systems used in highly regulated industries such as banking and insurance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build, enhance, and maintain business‑critical applications running on the IBM Mainframe technologies.

  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into clear, effective, and scalable technical solutions supporting key operational processes.

  • Design and implement new Mainframe functionalities that ensure reliability, performance, and compliance within regulated enterprise environments.

  • Optimize existing applications by improving performance, stability, maintainability, and overall system efficiency.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring minimal disruption to essential business operations and maintaining high service availability.

  • Collaborate with international teams including analysts, architects, and developers to deliver high‑quality solutions in a global project environment.

  • Contribute to long‑term Mainframe modernization initiatives and support the evolution of legacy systems.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of commercial experience in the development and maintenance of applications on the IBM Mainframe platform.

  • Strong knowledge of COBOL, JCL, CICS, and z/OS.

  • Hands‑on experience with DB2 databases, including SQL development, query optimization, and data analysis.

  • Ability to analyze business requirements and independently design and implement effective solutions. Experience in troubleshooting production issues and optimizing existing applications.

  • A proactive and self‑driven attitude, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in an international project environment. English proficiency at B1 level or higher.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience working with Git, Bitbucket and CI/CD practices within Mainframe environments.

  • Experience in the banking, financial services, or insurance sector.

  • Knowledge of Mainframe modernization initiatives and AI‑driven software development solutions.

  • Experience mentoring and supporting junior developers.
