Senior Manager | Accounts Services | Established Firm | Kildare
Description
Senior Manager – Accounting Services
The Opportunity
Our client is a well-established and highly respected accountancy practice with a loyal and long-standing client base across owner-managed businesses, SMEs and entrepreneurs.
Led by a down-to-earth Managing Partner, the firm has built an excellent reputation for delivering high-quality client service while maintaining an exceptionally positive working environment, reflected in its very low staff turnover.
Due to the upcoming retirement of a long-serving Senior Manager, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced professional to join the firm's Accounting Services team. This is a genuine succession opportunity, offering responsibility for an established client portfolio, significant autonomy, and the chance to play a key role in the continued development of the firm's accounting services offering.
The Role
The successful candidate will:
- Manage a substantial portfolio of audit-exempt companies, sole traders and owner-managed businesses.
- Act as the primary relationship manager and trusted advisor to a diverse client base.
- Oversee the preparation and review of annual financial statements together with related tax compliance work.
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of qualified and trainee accountants.
- Plan, allocate and review work, ensuring deadlines and service standards are consistently achieved.
- Identify and resolve accounting, taxation and commercial issues, providing practical, commercially focused solutions.
- Monitor portfolio performance, including budgets, recoverability and fee management.
- Take over and further develop an established portfolio from the retiring Senior Manager, ensuring a smooth transition for clients.
- Help improve and standardise the firm's accounting processes and service delivery.
- Play an active role within the firm's senior management team, contributing to its continued growth and success.
This is far more than a technical review role. It is an opportunity to take ownership of client relationships, lead and develop a team, and have genuine influence over the future direction of the accounting services function.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will have:
- ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent professional qualification.
- Ideally seven or more years' post-qualification experience within an Irish accountancy practice.
- Proven experience managing a portfolio of owner-managed businesses.
- Strong technical experience preparing and reviewing financial statements for audit-exempt companies and sole traders.
- A solid understanding of Irish corporation tax and income tax compliance.
- Experience leading, mentoring and developing qualified and trainee staff.
- Excellent client relationship management and communication skills.
- The confidence to make commercial decisions and manage client relationships with minimal Partner involvement.
- Strong IT skills, including advanced Excel and experience using accounting and practice management software.
- A practical, commercial and solutions-focused approach.
Candidates currently operating at Senior Manager, Associate Director or Director level would be particularly well suited to this opportunity.
What's on Offer
- Responsibility for a well-established and valuable client portfolio.
- A genuine leadership position within a growing and well-respected practice.
- Significant autonomy and the opportunity to work closely with the Partners.
- The ability to influence and enhance how accounting services are delivered across the firm.
- A supportive, collaborative culture with exceptionally low staff turnover.
- A competitive remuneration package that reflects experience and capability, together with excellent long-term career prospects.
All applications will be treated in the strictest confidence.
