Your main responsabilities
The Senior Manager of Medical Advanced Engineering, located in Galway, Ireland, will play a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction of product and process design to meet future customer requirements. This role demands a unique combination of leadership, technical expertise, and engineering execution, enabling them to inspire and guide the advanced technology team while collaborating closely with business leaders. Reporting directly to the CTO, this individual will be exceptionally skilled in both technical and people leadership.
The Senior Manager will globally oversee the Advanced Technology team and the PROPELUS early-development and rapid prototyping model across TE Medical, including the PROPELUS center in Galway and activities executed through other Medical sites. As a persuasive influencer and technical visionary within the business unit, they will possess a deep understanding of global trends impacting TE Medical's markets. They will develop technology roadmaps and drive project execution aligned with the medical strategy.
A key objective will be to use early technical engagement and rapid prototyping to influence customer development decisions toward TE capabilities while optimizing designs, increasing the opportunity to win scalable manufacturing programs.
- Lead the global Advanced Engineering team across all aspects, from creating roadmaps to executing projects, meeting key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Drive the global PROPELUS operating model for prototype and early-development opportunities, ensuring fast customer response, consistent execution against on time, on cost, and on quality targets, and effective use of the best-fit TE Medical capabilities across sites.
- Increase number of key early-stage development projects, create relationships and partnerships with key customers, drive project execution through close engagement with NPD and operations to ensure seamless transfer to production
- Guide the team in applying state-of-the-art technologies to deliver optimal solutions.
- Partner with Sales, Product Management, Operations and Project Management to align early-development priorities with customer needs, business strategy, execution capacity and manufacturing opportunities.
- Work closely with HR to strengthen the engineering team's capabilities and depth by fostering team growth and development.
- Implement talent planning and succession strategies for the Advanced Engineering group, ensuring alignment with TE Medical Global Job Framework to manage team members' career paths effectively.
- Manage communications with the business team, supply team, and Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure timely and optimized project impact and execution.
- Collaborate with finance to evaluate the business outcomes of the group.
- Spearhead innovation initiatives to cultivate creative thinking within the team and encourage medical-wide participation.
- Partner with marketing and sales to drive customer technology/innovation discussions through direct customer contact, trade shows and social media.
- Engage and collaborate with other business units within TE to leverage relevant technologies and innovations.
- Foster an environment of continuous improvement to rapid prototyping processes.
- Conduct monthly business reviews for Propelus prototyping center and Advanced Technology teams.
Your ideal background
- An engineering degree or higher level of qualification from an accredited university.
- 10+ years industry management experience in a medical product development environment desired.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% as required to support a global organization
- Experience leading technical teams >15 people
