Senior Manager, Baggage Development

The Baggage Development team leads the development and operationalisation of greenfield and brownfield baggage infrastructure and systems and plan for future operating concepts for Changi Airport. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, the team ensures that new and upgraded baggage capabilities are safe, efficient and operationally ready. Combining strategic, system-level thinking with disciplined execution and building strong relationships across operational, technical and senior management stakeholders is required in the course of work.

This role reports to the Baggage team lead and entails:

• Formulating and articulating baggage operations requirements for the design and development of T5’s Baggage Handling System (BHS), baggage related facilities and infrastructure
• Developing future baggage operating concepts, conduct and support proof of concept trials, recommend projects (i.e. Robotic loaders, ULD Tipper, Autonomous solutions) and obtain buy in from working to senior management levels in the Baggage community, for implementation in current terminals and T5
• Leading the operational planning for T3 BHS replacement program to mitigate impact of works on airport hub operations
• Ensuring the smooth and timely operationalisation of new baggage infrastructure through the conduct of tabletop exercises and ground trials to deliver additional baggage capacity in an efficient and safe manner
• Leading and coaching a small team to deliver key outcomes and achieve organisational objectives

The ideal candidate should have/be:

• More than 10 years of relevant experience in airport operations, aviation, or logistics, supported by a good degree in engineering, aviation or operations management, supply chain management or a related discipline. Experience in operational planning, infrastructure or systems planning, project management, baggage operations or baggage systems would be advantageous
• Demonstrated experience in leading teams and cross-functional stakeholders in complex operational environments, delivering key outcomes in large-scale infrastructure / system implementation and operational and digital transformation programmes, as well as experience in procurement, contract and vendor management
• The ability to leverage data analytics, operational insights and scenario modelling to drive strategic planning, execute change management strategies for increasingly automated operations
• Forward thinking, highly motivated, resourceful, and adaptable team player that enjoys problem-solving and challenging the status quo
• Strong sense of initiative, ownership, resilience, and comfortable in independently navigating ambiguity
• Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, coupled with good communication skills to interact with a diverse group of both senior management and operations staff
• Adept in using presentation and spreadsheet/data analytics tools (e.g. Microsoft suite of tools and any other digital tools to aid in work)
