Senior Manager

The role of Senior Manager, Singapore operates within an international matrix structure with responsibility for business development including leading on client and partner relationship development and mission and sales account development. You will be expected to contribute to sales provide deep technical expertise, critical knowledge of carbon and environmental topics aligned to our strategic growth areas as underpinned by your Global Practice Area-led Mission Impact Plans.

Additional critical skills relate to project management & commercial direction and the meeting of billable utilisation targets. Finally, but central to the role is leadership; at this level we have high expectations with regards to a consistent positive team leadership style and the role modelling of Carbon Trust behaviours, mission, values and principles. Duties and Responsibilities

Sales contribution:

Deliver individual sales targets and support delivery of Asia team target and overall Group sales targets.

Lead proposal development / bid development for clients, including facilitating the appropriate input from Carbon Trust experts and partners.

Develop opportunities and key differentiating propositions with strategic impact that are based on our global expertise and local Asia knowledge and network.

Develop and implement proactive account management plans for key and target clients, and support more junior team members to do this for their accounts.

Leverage own, Asia and group networks to facilitate introductions to potential clients and engage with different stakeholder groups, including through events and webinars, to identify new business opportunities.

Contribute both within and across Global Practice Areas with business development leads and regional practice area leads applying a growth mindset to key and development accounts whilst adhering to Carbon Trust sales procedures.

Support Asia marketing and communication efforts to raise the profile of the Carbon Trust and our services.

Provision and sharing of deep sector expertise:

Develop and consistently maintain deep level of technical / sector expertise in alignment with the skills critical to the growth of the Carbon Trust and apply this expertise effectively in a commercial context.

Expertise must be directly relevant to our strategy and relate to:

Global Practice Area and Carbon Trust priority interventions specified within the Group’s Mission Impact Plans

Cross-cutting areas of strategic priority including:

organisational decarbonisation and transition strategy

sector-wide market transformation initiatives aimed at systems change

Carbon Trust Assurance and Label services.

Actively support knowledge management, help cascade sector expertise and contribute to the collation and codification of knowledge within Topic Sites.

Project Delivery

Lead best practice in project management actively engaging in project management training and responsible for development of line reports and delivery team members in fundamental project management skills development.

Support the delivery of client projects, including providing technical input to the local and global teams on relevant sector topics, codifying knowledge arising from projects efficiently.

Effectively support delivery team members in managing client and stakeholder relationships ensuring client needs are met inline with time and budget allocation.

Provide quality assurance and performance oversight across a portfolio of Carbon Trust projects to ensure that the outputs are of a high-quality and delivered on time and within budget.

Provide support to managers with respect to project performance management, covering both financial and impact performance.

Billable Utilisation

Take a proactive approach to personal billable utilisation, and accountability for utilisation of direct reports.

Engage collaboratively with the Central Resourcing team to achieve billable utilisation target of 35% to 65%. Working flexibly across the group in line with demand.

Leadership

Role-modelling of Carbon Trust values &behaviours.

Setting clear standards, giving timely and honest feedback, and taking accountability for addressing issues early

Identifying wellbeing and morale issues and taking action to address them

Proactive approach to mentoring / team upskilling.

Job Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral), with the ability to build effective stakeholder and customer relationships, lead and run workshop sessions, present to audiences at every level and write high quality reports and proposals.
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex team environment and to take initiative and deliver projects independently when required.
  • Strong proposal writing and project management skills; taking ownership of activities to drive them forward to successful outcomes.
  • Knowledge across the full breadth of the Carbon Trust’s core propositions.
  • Adept at problem solving, including bringing innovative ideas into client discussions and proposition development.
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate small teams and in delivering high quality consulting projects related to climate action.
  • Keen motivation to develop subject matter expertise, deploy knowledge commercially and build capability / share with colleagues.
  • Goal-focused; tenacious in pursuing new business without losing sight of the Carbon Trust’s values and principles.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment where collaboration across other business units is essential.
  • Demonstrable time management capability. Organised, efficient and with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Degree educated (or equivalent), in a relevant discipline, e.g. science, geography, engineering, economics, environment/sustainability, maths etc.
  • Deep understanding of organisational sustainability and experience of working in or with organisations to reduce climate impact and transition to a low carbon economy.
  • Solid knowledge of climate change mitigation strategies with expertise aligned to Global Practice Areas as set out in Group Mission Impact Plans.
  • Considerable experience of leading strategic decarbonisation consulting projects, large public sector / donor-funded programmes, or sector-wide joint industry programmes.
  • Experience in policy/economic/market analysis and/or consultancy or assurance.
  • Experience of building and managing client relationships.
