Senior Manager, Cloud & Infrastructure, Deloitte Global Technology
Description
Deloitte Global is the engine of the Deloitte network. Our professionals reach across disciplines and borders to develop and lead global initiatives. We deliver strategic programs and services that unite our organization.
Role Purpose
The Lead Infrastructure Architect works with Service Owners, Technical Architects, and Member Firm counterparts to help shape the future-state roadmaps for end user technology (EUT — including collaboration technology and the M365 stack), networking, and hosting (cloud and private cloud), then brings those roadmaps together into one cohesive infrastructure landscape. The person contributes real input into how each domain roadmap takes shape: questioning assumptions, testing options, and connecting decisions across domains. Security runs through nearly every infrastructure decision, so the role works closely with the lead architects in Cyber as ongoing peers, keeping infrastructure and security direction aligned as both evolve. Final ownership and sign-off for each domain roadmap stays with the Service Owners and Technical Architects who run it.
This is a collaboration and relationship-driven role with no direct reports. Success depends on the credibility and relationships the person builds: enough technical depth to be a genuine contributor in roadmap discussions, and enough trust that Service Owners, Technical Architects, lead architects in Cyber, and Member Firm peers bring the person in early and value their input.
Key Responsibilities
- Roadmap Development & Landscape Synthesis
- Work directly with EUT, Networking, and Hosting Service Owners and Technical Architects in Global Technology and Infrastructure (GTI) during roadmap planning, contributing options and challenging assumptions as each domain roadmap takes shape.
- Work closely with the lead architects for Cyber throughout roadmap planning so infrastructure and security direction develop in alignment with each other, rather than one reviewing the other's work afterward.
- Bring the individual domain roadmaps together into one coherent, forward-looking infrastructure landscape spanning all three domains, with security posture visible as part of that landscape.
- Identify overlaps, conflicts, and gaps across domain roadmaps and work with the relevant owners to resolve them.
- Maintain a running future-state narrative (3–5 year horizon) for the combined landscape, refreshed as domain roadmaps evolve.
- Give Enterprise Architecture and GTI leadership one coherent picture of where infrastructure is heading, built from direct involvement in each part of it.
- Cross-Domain Coordination & Relationship Building
- Build trusted peer relationships with Service Owners and Technical Architects across GTI, and with the lead architects for Cyber, using those relationships to stay aligned as plans evolve on both sides.
- Convene conversations across EUT, Networking, Hosting, and Cyber where a decision in one area affects another — for example, hosting placement affecting network capacity and data protection requirements, or EUT device and collaboration technology refresh cycles affecting endpoint security posture.
- Engage Member Firm architecture and infrastructure counterparts regularly to understand and help shape local plans before they surface in the global landscape.
- Earn early, two-way visibility into roadmap discussions as a mark of success — staying aligned with Cyber's direction as closely as with the infrastructure domains, not catching up after decisions are made.
What will your typical day look like?
- AI & Emerging Technology Landscape
- Track how AI is showing up across each infrastructure domain: compute/GPU demand in hosting, AI-enabled copilots and collaboration tools in EUT, bandwidth and latency implications for networking.
- Work with domain owners and the lead architects for Cyber as peers to build AI implications into roadmaps early, since new AI tooling and usage patterns tend to raise security and data-handling questions alongside the infrastructure ones.
- Flag emerging AI-driven demand that could strain existing plans — capacity, cost, vendor exposure, security posture — so domain owners and Cyber can plan for it in advance.
- Maintain broad awareness of emerging infrastructure technology and market shifts, and bring relevant signals into roadmap conversations with the domains and Cyber counterparts they affect.
- Vendor & Technology Landscape
- Maintain a collated view of the vendor and technology landscape in use across EUT, Networking, and Hosting.
- Spot redundancy, inconsistency, and consolidation opportunities across domains and Member Firms.
- Share this landscape view with Service Owners, Procurement, and the lead architects for Cyber so vendor decisions made at the domain level account for both the global picture and security exposure. Vendor relationships and contracts stay with Service Owners and Procurement.
- Risk, Resilience & Security
- Work with domain owners and the lead architects for Cyber as peers to build resilience, continuity, and security considerations into roadmaps from the start, rather than treating them as a separate review step.
- Bring risk, resilience, and regulatory/data-residency considerations together into one visible picture across domains and Member Firms, surfacing gaps.
- Stay aligned with Cyber's lead architects on an ongoing basis, not just at point-in-time reviews, so security implications of the combined landscape stay visible as plans evolve.
- Governance & Communication
- Present the combined infrastructure landscape to Enterprise Architecture and GTI governance forums, supporting the decisions made by roadmap and investment owners, with the Cyber perspective reflected alongside the infrastructure domains.
- Translate the combined technical landscape into terms meaningful to business stakeholders and IT leadership.

Experience & Competencies
Required
- Proven ability to contribute to and help shape technical roadmaps owned by other teams, and bring them together into one coherent picture
- Strong relationship-building and facilitation skills; experience working as a peer alongside other domain and product architects, including security/Cyber
- Working experience across at least two of: end user technology (including collaboration technology), networking, cloud/hosting infrastructure — enough depth to contribute credibly to specialist discussions in all three
- Comfort working alongside Cyber/security architects as ongoing peers in infrastructure planning, not as a separate compliance step
- Awareness of how AI and emerging technology are shaping infrastructure demand and security exposure (compute, endpoints, collaboration tools, network)
- Experience navigating a federated or matrixed global organization, reconciling local and global perspectives
- Excellent communication skills — able to contribute effectively in cross-domain discussions and produce a clear combined narrative
- Comfort operating without direct authority or final decision rights
Preferred
- Experience in professional services or another large, multi-entity global organization
- Prior experience contributing to roadmaps owned by other teams and combining them into a broader view
- Prior experience working as a peer alongside Cyber/security architects on infrastructure design or planning
- Comfort operating with ambiguity, where the right answer depends on reconciling several valid perspectives
What Success Looks Like
-
- The infrastructure landscape, current and future state, is coherent and current, built with real input from the person into each part of it
- Service Owners, Technical Architects, and Cyber's lead architects treat the person as a peer they involve early, not a downstream reviewer
- Security implications are visible and addressed as part of each domain roadmap, developed in step with it, not identified late
- AI and emerging technology implications are built into domain roadmaps before they cause capacity, cost, or security problems
- Member Firms are engaged early enough that local plans help shape the global landscape
- Leadership has one reliable source of truth for where infrastructure is heading
