Senior Manager, Communications

You will lead internal communications while supporting external messaging, thought leadership, media engagement, and reputation initiatives.
Working closely with senior leaders and cross-functional teams, you will turn complex topics into clear, compelling stories.
The role combines strategic planning with hands-on writing, campaign development, stakeholder management, and executive communications.
You will help employees understand organizational priorities while strengthening visibility with partners, funders, policymakers, employers, and media.
Success will require strong judgment, creativity, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple high-profile priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Accountabilities:
- Lead the internal communications strategy, ensuring employees have a clear understanding of organizational priorities, strategy, culture, and significant changes.
- Develop messaging frameworks, communication plans, and integrated campaigns for strategic initiatives, organizational changes, partnerships, and organizational priorities.
- Manage communications calendars and channels, including newsletters, announcements, leadership updates, company-wide meetings, Slack, and other internal platforms.
- Partner with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to ensure communications are timely, consistent, engaging, and aligned with broader objectives.
- Write and edit a wide range of external and internal materials, including presentations, articles, social content, newsletters, press releases, reports, blogs, FAQs, leadership communications, and marketing materials.
- Prepare executives and organizational leaders for media interviews, speaking engagements, conferences, and other high-visibility opportunities through messaging, briefing materials, and interview preparation.
- Support conference and thought-leadership initiatives by developing speaker proposals, presentations, moderator guides, and run-of-show materials.
- Translate complex subjects—including workforce trends, AI, technology, and policy topics—into accessible and compelling communications for diverse audiences.
- Monitor media coverage, brand sentiment, and emerging issues to identify opportunities, strengthen visibility, and support reputation management.
- Contribute to media relations and crisis communications activities when needed, while anticipating potential communications risks.
- Manage multiple communications initiatives simultaneously, coordinating stakeholders, timelines, deliverables, and priorities with strong attention to detail.
- Serve as a trusted communications advisor to leaders and teams, proactively identifying opportunities to improve communication effectiveness and organizational alignment.
- 4–6+ years of professional experience in communications, public relations, journalism, marketing communications, or a closely related field.
- Exceptional writing, editing, storytelling, and content-development skills, with the ability to adapt messaging to different audiences and communication channels.
- Strong critical-thinking skills and the ability to simplify complex subjects into clear, persuasive, and engaging communications.
- Demonstrated experience advising senior leaders on communications strategy, messaging, and high-visibility communications.
- Experience developing and executing integrated communications campaigns across multiple channels.
- Strong project and stakeholder management capabilities, with the ability to coordinate multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously.
- Excellent judgment, discretion, organization, and attention to detail, combined with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Ability to build trusted relationships across departments and collaborate effectively with senior leaders and diverse stakeholders.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment where priorities evolve and emerging issues require quick, thoughtful responses.
- Familiarity with communications and collaboration tools such as Asana, Slack, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365.
- Experience with CRM and marketing platforms such as Salesforce and HubSpot is advantageous.
- A strategic, proactive communicator who combines strong execution skills with curiosity, sound judgment, and a strong sense of ownership.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; preferred candidates reside in AZ, CA, CO, FL, GA, IL, IN, KS, MD, MA, MI, MO, NC, NJ, NY, OH, PA, TX, or WA.
- Annual base salary: $60,000–$70,000, with final compensation determined based on geographic location, specialized experience, and alignment with the role's requirements.
- Remote work: Fully remote position.
- Paid time off: Full-time employees receive more than 40 days of paid time off annually through holidays, vacation, and wellness/sick/personal time.
- Paid holidays: 22 holidays annually, including a week off around Independence Day and a week before the New Year.
- Vacation: 8 hours accrued at the beginning of each month, with accrual increasing based on tenure.
