Senior Manager, P&O Business Partner (Brazil)
The Senior Manager, Business Partner People & Organization is responsible for providing human resources generalist support to all lines of business operating in Brazil in the areas of recruiting, performance management, training and development, compensation and benefits, employee relations.
Core Responsibilities
30% - Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, Occupational Health, Vendor Management
- Partner with the Compensation team to review and interpret market analysis and provide recommendations on salary actions, promotions, organizational structure changes, and compensation packages. Support the annual compensation planning process by partnering with business leaders to align salary adjustments with employee performance, internal equity, and market data.
- Acts as liaison with the Benefits Broker and employees as it relates to day-to-day benefits administration and implementation.
- Partners with insurance broker to monitor health insurance utilization against contract throughout term period.
- Discusses and negotiates health and welfare contract renewals with brokers to find the best cost-benefits ratio for both – company and employees.
- Take lead in employee communications related to payroll and/or benefits information.
- Manage payroll vendor. Review payroll, vacation, and termination documents before they are sent for payment.
- Acts as liaison with the payroll vendor to report new incidents and changes for employees in a timely manner.
- Approves bank payments to employees from Sony Television’s and Theatrical’s entity.
- Partner with Finance to identify any payroll or benefits incidents that may impact employees.
- Responsible for updating and maintaining the integrity of the HR database records for groups supported.
- Partner with third party payroll vendor to oversee overtime, employee benefits programs and payroll. Report on employee data for payroll processing, leaves of absence, etc.
- Maintain current regarding labor legislation changes that may impact employees, payroll, etc.
- Approves POs for P&O purchases.
- Approves Ariba payments related to health and dental plan, payroll provider, life insurance, meal ticket, vendors such as Pratika, Paromed, and others.
- Approves in Ariba all labor taxes.
20% - Organizational Culture
- Plays a key role in communicating and reinforcing organizational culture to employees.
- Facilitates roll-out and implementation of organizational changes, updates, and P&O initiatives to support organizational culture.
- Communicate policies & procedures to employees and partners with Legal to ensure internal process and procedures are in compliance with local regulations.
- Operates as a business partner to the management team in building an engaging employee experience culture develops and implements people strategies that support the business objectives and values.
20% - Day-to-Day Supervision and Direction (P&O Manager)
- Provide day-to-day leadership, direction, and prioritization of work for the P&O Manager to ensure timely, accurate, and high-quality delivery of HR services and alignment with departmental and business priorities.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings to provide coaching, mentorship, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities that support employee growth and engagement.
- Delegate assignments effectively while fostering accountability, continuous improvement, and a collaborative team environment.
15% - Employee Relations
- Provides guidance and support to management and staff regarding employee relations issues, HR policies and procedures.
- Recognizes employee relations issues and refers to appropriate resources; has basic knowledge of policies and procedures, regional employment laws and demonstrates awareness of business culture; participates in problem resolution of basic employee relations situations.
- Responsible for investigating all complaints that are brought to through the company hotline or otherwise.
- Participate in Union negotiation meetings annually to renew collective bargaining agreements.
10% - Talent Acquisitions/Recruiting
- Manages recruiting and selection process for all positions based in Brazil. This includes partnering closely with the hiring manager, development of job description, job posting, managing candidate sourcing, candidate interviews, and selection of final candidates, offer process and onboarding process.
- Liaise with external staffing agencies if required.
- Manages new hire onboarding and orientation process.
- Updates new hire information in Workday to ensure accuracy.
5% - Training and Development Planning
- Assess, recommend, and coordinate training programs to support development needs for client groups.
- Conduct special projects on as needed basis.
Job Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree required, preferred degree in Human Resources / Organization Development or equivalent experience.
This position requires prior experience of:
- More than 10 years progressive and hands on experience in the full spectrum of human resources operations.
- Knowledge of payroll practices and Brazilian labor legislation.
- Experience in managing people and/or vendors.
- Entertainment experience is a plus.
Skills:
- Solid project management skills to support regional projects.
- Strong team collaboration and professionalism within a team and across the region/organization.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication, interpersonal, consulting, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience leading HR projects and change initiatives, preferred in multinational organization.
- Knowledge of payroll practices and Brazilian labor legislation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to leverage data to support recommendations and business decisions.
- Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to lead multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Fluency in Portuguese and English required (written and spoken). Spanish proficiency is a plus.
