Senior Manager, Physical Network Inventory (PNI)

The Senior Manager, Physical Network Inventory (PNI) is responsible for the operational management, integrity, and evolution of Zayo’s physical network inventory systems. This role ensures these critical systems remain stable, effective, and aligned with business needs while supporting network design, service delivery, maintenance, and break/fix activities.

The Senior Manager also leads the modernization and consolidation of PNI capabilities to improve how Zayo manages and maintains its physical network inventory.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide operational leadership and ownership for Zayo’s Physical Network Inventory (PNI) systems and capabilities.

  • Ensure PNI platforms remain stable, effective, and capable of supporting critical network operations.

  • Lead and support the consolidation, modernization, and continued evolution of physical network inventory systems and capabilities.

  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and integrity of physical network inventory data within systems of record.

  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, IT, Product, Network Records, and GIS teams to understand business requirements and define system enhancements and improvements.

  • Ensure PNI capabilities effectively support network design, service delivery, maintenance, and break/fix activities.

  • Identify opportunities to improve system workflows, data quality, operational efficiency, and automation.

  • Coordinate system enhancements, integrations, and technology improvements with appropriate business and technical stakeholders.

  • Establish and maintain processes, standards, and governance for physical network inventory systems and associated data.

  • Support initiatives focused on network record accuracy, operational excellence, digital transformation, and workflow automation.

  • Monitor system and process effectiveness and identify risks, issues, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Provide leadership and subject-matter expertise for initiatives involving physical network inventory and network asset data.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Director, Network Records & GIS to support the broader strategy and roadmap for Network Records, GIS, and Asset Data Management.

  • Translate strategic objectives into executable PNI system and operational initiatives.

  • Support the development and implementation of standards and best practices for network documentation and asset data management.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve organizational effectiveness through system enhancements, automation, and process optimization.

  • Ensure PNI solutions support planning, engineering, construction, operations, and related business functions.

  • Support compliance with applicable internal controls and operational standards.

Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in telecommunications, network engineering, network operations, network records, GIS, asset management, or related technology functions.

  • Demonstrated experience with physical network inventory (PNI), network inventory, network records, or telecommunications asset management systems.

  • Strong understanding of telecommunications network infrastructure, including fiber and outside plant (OSP) assets, network connectivity, and associated records and data.

  • Experience leading or supporting enterprise system modernization, consolidation, integration, or transformation initiatives.

  • Demonstrated experience establishing and improving data quality, data governance, system controls, and operational processes for large or complex datasets.

  • Proven ability to translate business and operational requirements into system capabilities, enhancements, workflows, and technical requirements.

  • Experience partnering across Engineering, Operations, IT, GIS, Product, and other technical and business organizations.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated ability to identify operational risks, process gaps, and opportunities for automation and improvement.

  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and organizational skills, with the ability to lead initiatives across multiple teams without direct authority.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting large-scale fiber network acquisitions, integrations, or network data migrations.

  • Knowledge of enterprise architecture principles and the integration of network inventory platforms with upstream and downstream business systems.

  • Familiarity with APIs, data integration technologies, workflow automation, and emerging technologies that can improve network inventory management.

  • Experience developing operational metrics, KPIs, dashboards, or other mechanisms for measuring system, data, and process performance.

  • Experience establishing governance models, decision frameworks, and accountability structures across complex organizations.

  • Familiarity with internal controls, audit requirements, regulatory considerations, and enterprise risk-management practices.

  • Experience evaluating technology platforms, vendors, and solutions against business and operational requirements.

  • Relevant telecommunications, network, data management, GIS, or technology certifications are a plus.

Estimated base salary range: $106,500 - $163,900 USD/annually.

The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.


Additionally, this position may be eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance, life insurance, disability retirement plans, paid time off.
