Senior Manager, Product Operations

  • Lead the Product Operations model for our Product Innovation Centre.
  • A fantastic opportunity to work across cross functional teams in product, platform, design and business analysis
  • Full-time and permanent position based at our Adelaide Head Office.

Qantas has established a new Product Innovation Centre in Adelaide, a hub that will transform how we design, build and deliver digital experiences for millions of customers. At its core is a shift to a product-led operating model: moving away from traditional project-based IT delivery toward empowered, cross-functional product teams that own outcomes end-to-end.

The Senior Manager, Product Operations is responsible for defining and elevating the product craft across Product Managers, Platform Managers, and Business Analysts within the Product Innovation Centre. The role establishes consistent standards, playbooks, tools, and coaching practices to ensure high-quality product delivery as the Centre scales across multiple portfolios.

A key focus is driving the adoption of AI across Product, Platform, Business Analysis, Design, and Delivery disciplines, embedding AI into day-to-day workflows and evolving traditional practices towards an AI-native operating model. Working through influence rather than authority, the role ensures teams adopt effective ways of working that improve decision quality, accelerate delivery, and increase consistency across squads.

The role also acts as a strategic link between internal leaders and external partners, shaping capability development, learning programs, and talent pipelines to ensure practitioners are equipped with the skills and behaviours needed to succeed in the Product Innovation Centre.

You’ll have:

  • 10+ years in product management, product operations or a closely related discipline
  • 3+ years in a senior product leadership, chapter lead or capability enablement role
  • Deep product craft: problem framing, prioritisation frameworks, outcome-based road mapping, user story mapping and Jobs-to-be-done methodology
  • Demonstrated experience building chapter-type, guild or community-of-practice models within product organisations
  • Proven ability to influence senior product leaders and engineering managers without formal authority
  • Hands-on experience integrating AI tools into product workflows, including designing AI-assisted templates for product artifacts
  • Strong coaching and facilitation skills, with experience building practitioner capability through structured 1:1 and group formats
  • Ability to design frameworks and toolkits that practitioners adopt because they are genuinely useful
  • Analytical fluency: able to define metrics, interpret data and translate evidence into decisions and coaching priorities
