This role will lead the end-to-end revenue accounting process, including technical revenue accounting, operational revenue accounting, contract review, monthly close activities, and order-to-cash process design. The Senior Manager will serve as a key revenue accounting leader and cross-functional partner to Legal, Business Development, Revenue Operations, Program Finance, Billing, Collections, and FP&A to ensure revenue is recognized accurately, timely, and in accordance with ASC 606. This role will also help design and scale revenue accounting processes, controls, systems, and workflows to support Shield AI’s continued international growth.
What you'll do:

Lead the preparation and review of revenue-related journal entries, ensuring entries are accurate, complete, appropriately supported, and aligned with company accounting policies.
Review revenue-related account reconciliations, including deferred revenue, unbilled receivables, contract assets, contract liabilities, accounts receivable, and other order-to-cash related balances.
Manage and lead the preparation, review, and approval of customer contracts, ensuring appropriate revenue recognition while partnering with Sales, Legal, Business Development, Revenue Operations, and Program Finance on deal structure, contractual terms, and revenue guidance implementation.
Serve as one of the company’s subject matter experts on ASC 606, providing technical accounting guidance on complex revenue arrangements, non-standard contract terms, variable consideration, contract modifications, performance obligations, and other revenue recognition matters.
Own and evolve revenue accounting policies, including SSP analyses, allocation methodologies, and revenue recognition positions as new products, pricing models, geographies, and contract structures are introduced.
Design, document, and improve order-to-cash processes to ensure accuracy, scalability, operational efficiency, and strong internal controls across contract review, billing, revenue recognition, collections handoffs, and reporting.
Identify process gaps, control risks, and system limitations within the revenue accounting and order-to-cash lifecycle, and lead initiatives to improve process quality, automation, scalability, and audit readiness.
Support internal and external audits by preparing and reviewing audit schedules, responding to technical accounting inquiries, and ensuring revenue accounting documentation is complete, accurate, and well-controlled.
Mentor and develop revenue accounting team members, providing coaching, review, prioritization, and guidance to support team growth and operational excellence.
Required qualifications:
8+ years of relevant accounting experience, including significant experience in technical revenue accounting under ASC 606 and/or IFRS 15.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA preferred.
Strong revenue recognition experience, including experience reviewing complex customer contracts and assessing accounting conclusions under ASC 606.
Experience leading or managing revenue accounting close activities, including review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and revenue-related balance sheet accounts.
Deep understanding of order-to-cash processes and how technical accounting decisions impact billing, collections, revenue recognition, reporting, and controls.
Experience designing, improving, or scaling revenue accounting and order-to-cash processes in a high-growth or complex business environment.
Experience with revenue recognition, ERP, CRM, and/or order-to-cash systems, such as Salesforce or equivalent tools.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex technical accounting issues into clear, actionable guidance for cross-functional stakeholders.
Proven ability to work cross-functionally with Legal, Sales, Business Development, Revenue Operations, Billing, Collections, Program Finance, FP&A, Systems, and external auditors.
Strong understanding of internal controls, audit requirements, and SOX compliance protocols.
Demonstrated ability to balance technical accounting rigor with operational practicality and business partnership.
Data-driven mindset with a proactive approach to process improvement, automation, and scalable operations.

Experience with international expansion, including EMEA revenue accounting considerations.
Experience in high-growth technology, SaaS, PaaS, Defense, Aerospace, manufacturing, or complex contract environments.
Experience with long-term contracts, milestone billing, project-based revenue recognition, government contracts, or complex commercial arrangements.
