Description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a bar-raising leader to manage and evolve the AWS Industries (AWSI) Security Advisory Solutions Architecture team. This is a global people-leadership role responsible for the Security Advisory SA function worldwide - a team of Principal and Senior Security Solutions Architects across North America and EMEA who serve as trusted security advisors to the largest and most complex global enterprise customers at AWS. You will own the strategy, talent, and operating mechanisms for the function, and evolve the team to meet the emerging and rapidly evolving changes in cybersecurity requirements and practices.

The Security Advisory team ensures that security is the enabler and accelerator - unblocking the security, governance, risk, and compliance requirements that stand between a customer and their next milestone. When customers migrate workloads, modernize applications, or deploy AI on AWS, your team operates as trusted advisors embedded in their transformation journey, delivering security assessments, reference architectures, and compliance guidance that translate into actionable guidance and deployable solutions. Your job is to lead, develop, and empower the team that does this work at a world-class level, and to shape the function so its expertise reaches across industries and geographies.

You will lead an established, high-performing team with the ability to evolve it and take it to the next level. You lead people first - the majority of your impact comes through leading, coaching, and developing your team and shaping the function. Also, your ability to build trust and manage strategic relationships with executive leadership at AWS and within customers, especially at the CISO level, will be highly correlated to the success of your team and your customers. At the same time, you stay technically engaged as a player-coach: close enough to the work to raise the bar on your team's architectures and guidance, and to engage directly with senior stakeholders when it matters most. You bring deep, hands-on and leadership experience in cybersecurity and related domains such as governance, risk, and compliance (GRC). You and your team are expected to be strong in AI security across 1\ securing AI workloads, 2\ using AI to secure, and 3\ defending against AI-borne threats, across the full AI lifecycle on AWS - in addition to the security of all workloads customers might build on AWS.

As a senior leader in the organization, you will help define security strategies that move entire industries forward, and create new strategies for the team and organization to execute on that set the standard for how AWS raises the security bar for customers. You will drive thought leadership both across your team and in your own right - your team will be recognized as the go-to security experts for customers, for AWS field and service teams, and in the external market, representing AWS's voice publicly as thought leaders and well-versed speakers, and through external industry workgroups, trade groups, conferences, and standards bodies. You will engage senior customer stakeholders at an executive level, and influence, partner, and collaborate with internal AWS and Amazon executives. You will scale your team's expertise across the entire field - beyond just the security specialist community - so that proven security solutions can be deployed by all, freeing your team to focus on solving the next emerging security challenges for industry. You will operate with a high degree of independence and a strong executive presence.

Key job responsibilities
As a Senior Manager, Security Solutions Architecture, you will:

- Lead, develop, and retain a high-performing team of Senior and Principal Security Solutions Architects across North America and EMEA, raising the bar with every hire
- Lead with empathy and empowerment, building a culture of ownership, bias for action, and trust
- Evolve the team's capabilities to keep pace with rapidly changing cybersecurity requirements and practices
- Own the strategy, operating mechanisms, and metrics to deliver measurable impact for the world's largest enterprises
- Create new strategies that set the standard for how AWS raises the security bar for customers
- Engage CISOs and other business and technology decision makers at an executive level, and partner with AWS and Amazon executives
- Stay technically hands-on enough to coach complex engagements across securing AI, using AI to secure, and defending against AI-driven threats
- Scale the team's expertise across the field so proven solutions can be deployed by all, freeing the team for the next emerging challenges
- Drive thought leadership across the team and in your own right, inside AWS and publicly
- Amplify the voice of the customer to influence the AWS services roadmap

A day in the life
Your day starts with your team: a check-in with an architect working through an AI security question for a major enterprise customer, then a coaching session with a Principal preparing for a CISO briefing. Midday, you're in an executive conversation helping a CISO shape their security strategy. In the afternoon, you're partnering with AWS service leaders on a pattern your team keeps seeing in the field, and reviewing a new reference architecture others can reuse. Some days end with a talk or a hiring loop; every day ends with your team a little stronger.

About the team
We are a team of security advisors to the world's largest enterprises, and our mission is simple: make security the thing that helps our customers move faster and safer, not the thing that slows them down. You'll lead architects across North America and EMEA who work alongside service owners, account teams, and industry specialists to solve problems no one has a playbook for. Our culture runs on trust, technical curiosity, and sharing what we learn so the whole organization raises the bar. We have each other's backs, own our customers' hardest challenges, and invest in building each other up.
