Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced strategic banking professional to join Westpac as Senior Manager Strategic Enablement within our Corporate and Commercial Banking business.

This is a newly created and highly influential role, partnering closely with the Head of Corporate and Commercial Banking and leadership team to turn business strategy into clear priorities, coordinated delivery and measurable customer, growth, risk, people and performance outcomes.

You’ll sit at the heart of the business, connecting strategy, insight, governance and execution to enable better decision-making, reduce friction and support sustainable growth. Bringing a strong commercial lens, you’ll help ensure our strategic priorities are clearly defined, effectively sequenced and successfully delivered across the business.

Key responsibilities of this role include:

  • Partnering with the Head of Corporate and Commercial Banking to shape and execute business strategy, annual plans and priority initiatives.
  • Translating strategic objectives into clear roadmaps, measures, governance and ownership across the leadership team.
  • Leading the business planning and performance rhythm, bringing together customer, financial, portfolio, risk, credit, people and market insights to support better decision-making.
  • Coordinating cross-functional initiatives across regions, customer segments and product partners, ensuring dependencies, risks and trade-offs are proactively managed.
  • Identifying opportunities to simplify ways of working and improve the end-to-end customer and banker experience.
  • Providing high-quality insights, recommendations and updates to support leadership and governance forums.
  • Building strong partnerships across product, credit, risk, operations, finance, people and change teams.
  • Leading business readiness and implementation for organisational and operational change.
  • Coaching and supporting leaders to strengthen strategic thinking, commercial discipline, customer focus and execution capability.

Nā tōu rourou | What will you bring?

  • Significant experience across corporate or commercial banking, business management, strategy, performance, transformation or a comparable strategic partnering role.
  • Demonstrated ability to turn strategy into prioritised plans and coordinated delivery across complex stakeholder groups.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, with confidence interpreting customer, portfolio, market and performance information.
  • Excellent influencing and relationship-building skills, with the credibility to engage and challenge senior leaders.
  • Experience leading cross-functional change and improving customer or operational outcomes.
  • Strong communication, judgement and problem-solving capability.
  • A practical understanding of risk management and control obligations within a regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of corporate and commercial customer segments and broader banking solutions, including lending, credit, transaction banking, trade and FX.
  • Experience across business planning, governance, portfolio management, operating model or organisational change.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in business, finance, economics, law or a related discipline.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys operating at the intersection of strategy, commercial performance and execution, with the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership and influence the future direction of Westpac’s Corporate and Commercial Banking business.
