Senior Manager, Tax Operations
In this role you will take full ownership of the global tax provision under ASC 740 and lead tax compliance operations. You will prepare and review quarterly and annual income tax provisions, draft tax footnote disclosures and technical memoranda, calculate effective tax rates, and manage deferred tax schedules and uncertain tax positions. You will oversee US federal, state, and international income tax filings, managing external vendors to keep everything accurate and on time. You will design and implement tax operations best practices, improve data collection workflows, and oversee indirect taxes such as VAT, GST, and sales tax. You will manage estimated tax payments and extensions globally, partner with FP&A and Accounting to ensure data integrity, and support leadership on M&A, restructuring, and new product launches.
Responsibilities
- Manage the preparation and review of the global quarterly and annual income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740
- Prepare tax footnote disclosures and internal tax technical memoranda to support tax positions and financial statement reporting
- Calculate effective tax rates, manage deferred tax asset/liability schedules, and analyze uncertain tax positions under FIN 48
- Manage the end-to-end compliance process for US federal, state, and international income tax returns with external vendors and advisors
- Design and implement tax operations best practices and improve data collection workflows between Accounting and Tax
- Oversee the calendar and compliance for direct and indirect taxes including VAT, GST, and sales tax across global entities
- Manage the calculation and timely remittance of estimated tax payments and extensions globally
- Partner with FP&A and Accounting to ensure financial data is structured correctly for tax consumption
- Assist senior leadership with the tax operational impacts of M&A, entity restructuring, and new product launches
Requirements
- 10+ years of relevant tax experience
- Background in a Big 4 accounting firm highly preferred, ideally combined with in-house experience at a multinational corporation
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- CPA and/or MST strongly preferred
- Deep subject matter expertise in ASC 740 tax provision and US GAAP
- Demonstrated success in tax operations including building calendars, managing workflows, and using technology to reduce manual errors
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to translate complex tax accounting concepts for non-tax stakeholders
- Genuine personal passion for Web3, blockchain, and the digital asset space; prior professional crypto experience not required
