Senior Managing Director, Latin America Investment Banking
Description
The role
MACA Advisors is an investment banking advisory firm covering Latin America and the Caribbean with strong expertise in cross-border M&A and strategic capital raising. We are expanding our coverage in Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Argentina, and are hiring a senior banker, at Managing Director level or above, to help drive investment banking origination in one of these markets.
Mandates span M&A, strategic and capital advisory, with M&A as the lead product. The role is based in Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Argentina or New York. For the right person, it can extend to coverage across several countries in the region.
This is a partner-level role for a banker who has already built a book of clients.
What you will do
Originate and lead M&A, strategic and capital advisory mandates in your market
Build a pipeline of proprietary mandates from local market knowledge, not competitive pitches
Bring in cross-border work: local buyers and sellers active elsewhere in the region, and regional and international clients looking at your market, working with MACA’s other senior bankers
Hire a local team as the business grows
Turn personal client relationships into firm relationships
Who you are
A record of originating and leading M&A mandates in the region, with named clients and outcomes
Native or deep knowledge of at least one of Mexico, Colombia, Chile or Argentina: its regulation, tax and transaction practice, and its active corporates, sponsors and competing advisors
If based in New York, willing to relocate or spend significant time in market
Experience leading or co-leading cross-border transactions
Fluency in Spanish and English
Sector depth is a plus, especially in power and infrastructure, natural resources (oil & gas, metals & mining) or financial institutions
How we work
We take on mandates that meet our standards and turn down those that do not. Partners work across countries and sectors, and our economics reward that collaboration.
Economics
A direct share of the revenue you generate and participation in a firm-wide pool. We explain the model in the first conversation.
Process
The process runs over several weeks: conversations with the founders, a detailed career review, sessions with senior partners, references, and time together in your market.
