Job Summary:
The Senior Manufacturing & Controls Engineer is a key role responsible for leading and optimizing manufacturing engineering processes within a production environment. This position involves applying engineering principles to enhance efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness in manufacturing operations. Position is equally responsible for assisting in planning, and coordinating manufacturing processes and capital investment in industrial plant setting by performing the following duties.
Essential Functions:
  • Develop work instructions for each manufacturing process and train personnel where applicable.
  • Oversee projects internally & externally.
  • Coordinate design and build capital investment projects leading the reviews, tracking financials, and ensuring investments come in on time and on budget.
  • Complete design reviews with internal & external sources as necessary.
  • Coordinate review and approval of initial production samples.
  • Participate in supplier quality audits
  • Participate in cost savings projects
  • Implement new concepts to reduce product cost.
  • Lead efforts to continually assess and upgrade controls on manufacturing & facilities equipment.
  • Consolidate/Standardize variation in processes and equipment across the plant.
  • Participate in corrective action meetings to investigate root causes and implement engineering changes where needed.
  • Assist engineering department with all controls & automation activities.
  • Design/Oversee controls systems signing off on supplier designs.
  • Coordinate required reviews with the customer (manufacturing departments).
  • Coordinate build efforts and manage to program timeline
  • Research and purchase required outside systems when needed
  • Perform machine & process studies and coordinate process improvements
  • Work with Quality Department to finalize control plans.
  • Work with departments to develop all inspection check sheets per operation
  • Final review and sign-off of all inspection check sheets
  • Manage all new product kick-off meetings with pertinent departments
  • Monitor the progress of new product launches to their timelines.
  • Develop program timelines and priorities workload to meet schedule needs
  • Report program status and action items to management on scheduled basis
  • Oversee and coordinate the manufacturing and installation of all in-house projects with cross functional team. Processes could be rubber mixing, washing, cleaning, blasting, extrusion, calendaring, sparying, rubber molding, assembly.

Minimum Qualifications:
Specific knowledge that can be determined objectively; suggested vocabulary below
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • PLC & Controls Integration experience, Allen Bradley is required.
  • Self starter capable of seeking out & engaging subject matter experts when needed.
  • Excellent communication, leadership ability, and project management skills.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree (B.S. or B.A.) from four-year college or university, 5 - 10 years related engineering experience or equivalent combination of education and experiences.
Background Prerequisites:
Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks, physical, and controlled substance testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with machine building & automation is required.
  • Experience with Lean 6 Sigma methodologies, project management, rubber manufacturing, and machine building/automation is preferred.
