As a Senior Marine Operations Specialist, you will provide technical expertise in marine operations and welding activities, supporting project execution and tendering processes. You will ensure compliance with international standards, optimize welding procedures, and contribute to safe and efficient offshore operations.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Support the efficient, safe, and cost-effective execution of welding activities for project implementation
Ensure that welding and ancillary equipment are fit for purpose, delivered on time, and within budget
Continuously develop and expand expertise in welding and materials through professional memberships and technical courses
Provide budget estimates and firm offers for tenders, projects, and internal clients related to welding activities and equipment
Review technical specifications for tender and contract evaluations, assessing cost, quality, and production cycle impact
Develop welding cycles for pipeline installation rate estimates for tender budgeting and project planning
Request and assess quotations for welding equipment and personnel, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness
Leverage industry experience to enhance customer service and operational efficiency
Manage all aspects of welding procedure qualifications, including test schedules, costs, and materials
Organize and oversee welding crew training and qualification programs, ensuring compliance with industry standards
Facilitate and lead project kickoff meetings at on-site locations when necessary
Provide technical guidance and support to various departments regarding welding equipment and processes
Coordinate third-party operations (ECA, NDT, etc.) as required
Maintain and monitor the documentation and execution of welding activities, ensuring compliance with project requirements
Analyze project execution performance, including productivity and quality assessments
Ensure proper filing, archiving, and document control within the department
Enforce safety measures by halting operations in case of unsafe practices and reporting workplace hazards or incidents
Provide instruction and oversight to personnel and subcontractors in accordance with project plans
Essential Qualifications and Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Welding/Materials Engineering or equivalent experience
European/International Welding Engineer (EWE/IWE) certification or comparable expertise
Strong knowledge of welding processes (STT, CMT) and mechanized welding systems
Strong practical knowledge and familiarity of Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) systems relevant to marine and welding operations
Minimum of 10 years of experience in offshore pipeline welding
Extensive experience as a Welding Engineer across multiple work sites (offshore and onshore)
Proven expertise in project planning and execution within the oil and gas welding industry
Strong background in welding inspection and compliance
Comprehensive knowledge of mechanized welding, welding procedure qualifications, and troubleshooting common welding challenges
Exceptional communication skills, enabling effective discussions on complex technical matters during tender and project execution
