Senior Marine System Engineer

Summary

The Senior Marine Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, integration, validation, and lifecycle support of marine systems across FPSO / FSO / offshore platform projects. The role provides technical leadership, ensures regulatory compliance, and supports projects from concept design through commissioning and sea trials.

Responsibilities

1. Engineering& Design

  • Lead engineering design and calculations for marine systems.
  • Lead to develop UFD/PFD/P&IDs for marine system.
  • Develop system architectures, schematics, and technical specifications
  • Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and technical evaluations to support design decisions.
  • Ensure designs are compliant with Class Society rules (ABS, DNV, BV, LR) and applicable international codes.

2. Technical Documentation & Review

  • Prepare and review marine system schematics and layouts
  • Technical reports and calculations
  • Equipment specifications and datasheets
  • Review drawings, diagrams, and technical submissions from suppliers and shipyards
  • Maintain accurate “as‑built” and “as‑fitted” documentation.

3. Project Execution Support

  • Support 3D model reviews, clash checks, and design coordination with hull,piping, mechanical, electrical, and safety disciplines.
  • Provide engineering support during fabrication, installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
  • Review vendor documents, drawings, and technical submissions.

4. Interface& Coordination

Coordinate with:

  • Hull, piping, topsides, EICT and mechanical teams
  • Project management, construction, and commissioning teams
  • Clients, class surveyors, and third-party vendors
  • Resolve technical queries (TQs) and respond to site queries (SQs).
  • Liaise with class societies, flag administrations, and regulatory bodies during plan approval and inspections.

5. Documentation& Quality

  • Prepare and review engineering deliverables, reports, and calculations.
  • Ensure engineering works comply with project QA/QC requirements.
  • Participatein design reviews, HAZID/HAZOP, and technical audits when required.

6. Leadership& Mentoring

  • Act as a technical authority within marine systems engineering
  • Guide and mentor junior engineers and designers
  • Contribute to standardization, continuous improvement, and engineering best practices within the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marine engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
  • Typically, 7–10 years of relevant experience in marine or offshore engineering for FPSO / FSO / FSRU / FPU, offshore platform and oil & Gas projects
  • Strong understanding of marine systems design principles.
  • Familiarity with class rules, international marine codes, and offshore standards
  • Abilityto manage multiple priorities in a project environment
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations.
  • Good analytical, communication, and coordination skills.
  • Clear technical communication with internal teams, clients, and regulators
  • Leadership mindset with the ability to influence and mentor others
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
  • Understanding hydraulic analysis and pressure drop calculations.
  • Excellent written skills and oral communications
