Description

Do you love leading complex pursuits, shaping win strategy, and telling great stories? Sellen is looking for a Senior Marketing Manager to drive our most important pursuits and help tell the Sellen story with authenticity, creativity, and integrity.

As Senior Marketing Manager, you'll lead company-wide marketing and business development efforts, primarily pursuing new work through qualifications, proposals, design-build submittals, and client interviews. Working closely with our Vice President of Business Development and Marketing, you'll drive complex pursuits from kickoff through delivery and bring a clear, informed point of view to Sellen's win strategy.

This is a senior role for someone with a confident voice. You'll share your ideas, challenge the team's thinking when it matters, mentor marketing staff, and help raise the quality of everything we produce. The role also offers opportunities to take on expanded leadership responsibilities as the team grows.

About the Team

You'll join Sellen's marketing team, a close group that works together on everything from client pursuits to brand storytelling. We share ideas, push each other to do better work, pitch in when deadlines stack up, and celebrate wins together.

What you'll do

Pursuits and Business Development

  • Lead and project manage responses to proposals and interviews: attend pre-bid, project walk-through, and proposal kickoff meetings; schedule all key dates and project team meetings; and lead strategy and messaging discussions with an informed point of view on client drivers, competitive positioning, and Sellen's win strategy.
  • Shape and develop written content that strengthens messaging, differentiates Sellen, and advances the team's win strategy.
  • Lay out all content using templates and design standards, coordinate or produce key graphic components, and manage schedules, resources, and quality control to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Lead and support interview and presentation development, including facilitating strategy sessions, developing presentation content and graphics, coaching presenters, and coordinating preparation and rehearsals.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to marketing staff, delegating responsibilities as appropriate, sharing best practices, and helping build the team's capabilities and confidence.
  • Proactively identify and implement improvements to pursuit processes, tools, and workflows that improve efficiency, collaboration, and the quality of deliverables.

Communications and Storytelling

  • Collaborate with technical and marketing staff to research, write, and develop authentic, compelling stories about the company, key personnel, and our projects, communicated clearly, accurately, and in a visually appealing way that aligns with Sellen's brand and messaging guidelines.
  • Create strategic, dynamic content that reinforces Sellen's market positioning, vision, and brand across internal and external channels, which may include social media, our website and intranet, videos, email bulletins, newsletters, external emails, magazines, white papers, and reports.
  • Reach out regularly to project teams to learn about project challenges, best practices, and key dates, and to identify opportunities for marketing support and public relations.
  • Act as the interdepartmental contact for specific Sellen departments, fielding requests and delegating tasks as needed.

Events and Jobsite Support

  • Plan and manage communications for special events, industry outreach, and relationship-building activities, supporting our VP's positioning and relationship development across the industry.
  • Provide jobsite support as needed.

What you'll bring

Experience

  • 7+ years of progressive marketing or communications experience in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry or a B2B professional services field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex pursuits and contributing to win strategy, with working knowledge of the AEC market, client drivers, and competitive landscape.
  • Experience mentoring or leading other marketing professionals, with an interest in expanding your leadership over time.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in marketing, journalism, communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, schedule, and drive multiple complex pursuits and resources to on-time, high-quality delivery.
  • Advanced writing and technical editing skills, with a talent for translating highly technical information into clear, concise writing and producing multi-page documents that are thoughtful, organized, and easy to read.
  • Knowledge of graphic design and layout.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail

How you work

  • You're self-motivated to start activities and communication, and you bring a clear, well-informed point of view to strategy discussions.
  • You take ownership of all assignments and of the pursuit process from kickoff through delivery.
  • You're creative and resourceful.
  • You lead and take part in collaborative project teams, coordinating deliverables and deadlines with clients and consultants.
  • You communicate comfortably and effectively with new and diverse groups of people.
  • You meet deadlines across multiple, diverse projects and consistently produce exceptional work in a challenging, fast-paced, and energizing environment.
