JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Mechanical Designer is responsible for the development, coordination, and execution of complex piping system designs for power and industrial facilities. This position requires advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Plant 3D and extensive experience creating intelligent 3D plant models, equipment layouts, piping orthographic drawings, and piping isometric drawings. The Senior Mechanical Designer works closely with engineering disciplines, project managers, clients, and construction personnel to produce high-quality design deliverables that support safe, constructible, and cost-effective project execution.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • 3D Plant Modeling and Design
    • Develop and maintain detailed 3D models of piping systems using AutoCAD Plant 3D.
    • Create intelligent piping models that comply with project specifications, applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
    • Model process equipment, structural interfaces, pipe supports, access platforms, and associated components.
    • Perform multidisciplinary coordination within the 3D model environment to resolve design conflicts and improve constructability.
  • Plant Layout and General Arrangements
    • Develop plant layouts and equipment arrangements that optimize operability, maintainability, accessibility, and safety.
    • Prepare general arrangement (GA) drawings for process facilities, utility systems, and industrial plants.
    • Evaluate routing alternatives and equipment placement to ensure efficient use of available space.
    • Coordinate layouts with process, mechanical, structural, civil, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines.
  • Design Coordination and Quality
    • Conduct model reviews and design verification activities to ensure compliance with project requirements.
    • Identify and resolve clashes, interferences, and constructability concerns prior to issuing design deliverables.
    • Review piping designs and drawings prepared by other designers for accuracy and completeness.
    • Maintain consistency with company drafting standards, client standards, and quality control procedures.
  • Project Execution
    • Participate in project planning, scheduling, progress tracking, and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
    • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate designers.
