Senior Mechanical Engineer (Data Centre / 3D CAD Design)

Our client, a global engineering and technology company, is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Designer to support the design of hyperscale modular data centre systems.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support the design and development of modular equipment systems for data centre projects. The role involves mechanical engineering calculations, 3D CAD modelling, equipment layouts, piping and structural design, as well as technical coordination with engineering teams and vendors from design through fabrication, testing and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical designs and 3D CAD models for modular equipment systems, piping arrangements and structural assemblies.

• Perform mechanical engineering calculations and design analyses to ensure equipment performance and reliability.

• Prepare and review engineering drawings, equipment layouts, technical specifications and BOMs.

• Review fabrication, assembly and installation drawings to ensure compliance with engineering standards.

• Coordinate with engineering teams, suppliers and fabrication vendors to resolve technical issues.

• Support fabrication, testing, commissioning and FAT/SAT activities.

• Review vendor technical documents and support design improvements, cost optimisation and system integration.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical design, industrial systems, manufacturing, HVAC, utilities, water treatment or modular equipment.

• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering calculations, design principles and technical analysis.

• Proficient in SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Creo or AutoCAD.

• Experience in equipment layouts, piping arrangements, structural assemblies and fabrication drawings.

• Good understanding of fabrication, manufacturing and assembly processes.

• Experience in modular equipment, packaged systems or engineered-to-order (ETO) projects is advantageous.

• Exposure to structural design, piping design or FEA is an advantage.

• Strong technical problem-solving, communication and coordination skills.
