Senior Mechanical Engineer

InZiv was founded in 2018 to address the critical quality assurance needs facing today’s most advanced display manufacturers, by developing highly specialized inspection equipment using proprietary nanoscale optics and metrology. The company’s portfolio extends to microLED, QLED and OLED technologies with the goal of providing state of the art tools for improving the manufacturing process, lowering production costs, and enabling greater access to the use of these displays by all consumers. Using our lead and expertise in these worlds, we are also at the frontier of Silicon Photonics.

As our Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will report to the VP of Product and Engineering and co-lead the development and production of one of the most complex multi-disciplinary systems in the semiconductor industry.

The chosen candidate is not afraid to get his hands dirty, loves a good challenge, and builds complex things from scratch. And is willing to travel frequently.

The Mechanical Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the mechanical engineering discipline and team in the design and development of high-precision components and assemblies used in Micro LED inspection systems. This role requires deep experience in precision mechanical design, opto-mechanical integration, electro-mechanical design, thermal management, automation and semiconductor and display industry standards. The manager ensures that mechanical solutions meet stringent performance, reliability, and manufacturability requirements in support of next generation display inspection products.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management

§ Lead a multidisciplinary team of in-house and outsourced mechanical design engineers with expertise in micro-scale design, wafer inspection systems, materials science, and thermal analysis.

§ Set technical direction, establish best practices, methodologies and processes, and drive continuous improvement in design quality and team capability.

§ Set your team’s short and long-term goals, develop the execution plan and monitoring methodology to meet them. Monitor your team's activities and develop their schedule to meet their weekly objectives.

Mechanical Design & Innovation

§ Oversee the design and development of micro-precision mechanical structures, electro-mechanical design, opto-mechanical design, vibration isolation, high precision mechanical and calibration structures, air pressure systems, high-precision robotic and automation systems, dynamic and static routing, MEMS design and overall structural, safety and thermal design of wafer Micro LED inspection system design.

§ Drive innovation in miniaturization, electro-mechanical sensing and signal delivery, electro-optical design and high-precision automation.

System Integration & Collaboration

§ Collaborate closely with peers, managers of other disciplines, colleagues, consultants and suppliers to ensure seamless development process and system-level integration.

§ Support NPI (New Product Introduction) by working with manufacturing external engineering suppliers, procurement and operations to ensure smooth and reliable transition designs to production.

Validation & Reliability

§ Oversee design verification and validation testing (shock, vibration, thermal cycling, cleanliness, humidity, temperature, etc.) to ensure high quality and long-term reliability and preventive maintenance of the system.

§ Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for mechanical failures during qualification or production.

Design Tools & Documentation

§ Ensure the team maintains high standards in CAD modeling, technical drawings, tolerance stack-up analysis and quality control using tools such as SolidWorks.

§ Maintain version-controlled design documentation, BOMs, and engineering change records in PLM systems (e.g. EPDM).

Standards & Compliance

§ Ensure mechanical designs meet internal design standards, customer ESH requirements and comply with relevant industry and regulatory standards (e.g., Semi Standards, and ISO 14644 for cleanroom compatibility).

Strategic Planning & Reporting

§ Contribute to mechanical design strategy and roadmap aligned with product vision and business goals.

§ Report key performance metrics, technical risks, and resource requirements to executive stakeholders.

Requirements

§ B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering

§ A minimum of 7 years of advanced experience as a Mechanical Engineer, with a proven track record in both multi-disciplinary systems and the semiconductor field.

§ Expertise in electro-optical systems and a deep understanding of optics principles.

§ Specialization in precision mechanics. Details oriented and meticulous.

§ Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and present complex technical concepts clearly.

§ Fluent in English, both written and verbal.

§ Willingness to work within a startup's dynamic environment

§ Willingness to fly abroad frequently
