UCT is looking for a talented Senior MES Engineer (IT) to join us in Malaysia!

Job Overview:

The MES Lead is responsible for leading the development, integration, management, and optimization of the MES. This role oversees the interface of MES with SAP and other systems, ensuring seamless integration and operation. You will play a pivotal role in defining technical strategies, guiding solution design, and ensuring successful implementation of MES to meet business objectives. After implementation, the MES lead will focus on system maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting, and driving continuous improvement, service as an enterprise expert on MES. This individual will work closely with business stakeholders, plant operations, and IT teams to drive digital transformation on the shop floor, ensuring systems support operational efficiency, quality, compliance, and integration with enterprise systems (e.g., ERP, PLM).

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, implement and maintain MES solutions, process/operation automation in manufacturing (Industrial 4.0) and related interfaces integrated MES with ERP system (e.g. SAP) and shop floor automation (e.g. IoT)
• Lead and oversee the implementation, development, upgrades, support, and process optimizations of manufacturing applications.
• Experience with MES/MOM solutions and Industry 4.0 technologies.
• Strong understanding of MOM (Manufacturing Operations Management) as well as SCADA and APS solutions (both SAP APS offerings as well as DELMIA Ortems).
• Prepare user requirement, convert to technical specification & liaise with development team on solution delivery
• Conduct technical feasibility assessments and prototype development to validate design concepts and identify potential risks and challenges.
• Employ application and integration development best practices, enterprise architecture standards, functional and technical solution architecture modification and design, environment management, and testing.
• Ensuring MES Solution is implemented successfully across the manufacturing plants and platforms with core capability and IT /OT system interface. Ensuring the sustainability of technology and applications on security compliance and capability enhancement and alignment product roadmaps.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand manufacturing processes, identify system requirements, and deliver tailored IT solutions.
• Identify, investigate, and recommend improvements to products, systems, and processes and provide technical feedback for proposed system design and implementation activities.·
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices, application logging, monitoring, and observability.
• Serve as the MES expert and primary point of contact for all MES-related inquiries.
• Identify opportunities for system enhancements and future MES module additions.
• Document technical solutions, SOPs, and user manuals to ensure knowledge sharing and maintainability.
• Provide training to business users, perform IT Acceptance Testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) on MES/MES Extended solutions.
• Develop scripts, services, and dashboards to support manufacturing KPIs, traceability, and data-driven decision-making.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in manufacturing applications, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
• Support manufacturing system upgrades, migrations, and implementations.

Skills / Knowledge:

• Manufacturing process, MES and extended MES solution know-how
• Medium/Strong programming skills in languages such as C# .NET, Javascript, Python, or similar
• Strong in SQL/Oracle database and store procedure
• Experienced with Web/Window application, API
• SQL & Database Concepts
• API/Web Services Integration.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written)
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications:

• Master Degree/Bachelor's Degree/Professional Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
• 7-10+ years of experience in MES implementations, integration & support, with 4+ years of experience in technical leadership roles.
• Hands-on experience with MES systems such as DELMIA Apriso, Critical Manufacturing, Siemens Opcenter, software development, and related technologies.
• Ability to lead teams, communicate effectively, and build strong relationships.
• Know-how on Change Management Process, System Development Life Cycle
• Experience with project planning, execution, and closure.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve issues.
• Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changing requirements.
• Capable of leading and influencing a virtual team composed of members from diverse organizations (Operation team, Product/Process/Production/Quality engineering team).
