Senior ML engineer

Summary

Build and deploy enterprise AI agents for a major home-improvement retailer using Google Cloud’s ADK, Vertex AI, and MCP, while owning CI/CD, security, and observability.

We are seeking an experienced ML Engineer to join a strategic engineering squad building next-generation intelligent agent infrastructure for the world’s largest home improvement retailer. In this role, you will design, develop, and operationalize enterprise-grade AI applications and autonomous agents using the Google Cloud Agent Development Kit (ADK) and Vertex AI. Working at the intersection of AI engineering, cloud architecture, and MLOps, you will play a pivotal role in creating scalable, secure, and resilient AI agent frameworks that serve millions of daily customers and professional contractor platforms. You will own the full AI lifecycle—from staging custom Model Context Protocol (MCP) actions and implementing identity frameworks to establishing CI/CD automation, policy-as-code, and comprehensive observability across serverless and containerized cloud environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable AI agent infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform using Vertex AI, Agentspace, and the Agent Development Kit (ADK).

  • Build, deploy, and manage custom Model Context Protocol (MCP) actions, ensuring safe, compliant, and deterministic model execution boundaries.

  • Establish robust enterprise security and Identity Access Management (IAM) frameworks, including Workload Identity Federation, short-lived tokens, RBAC, and cross-cloud alignment (Azure AD / Google Workspace).

  • Operationalize AI solutions by designing automated CI/CD pipelines, automated compliance checks, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and GitHub Actions.

  • Develop event-driven workflow orchestrations and scalable data pipelines utilizing Google Pub/Sub, Python, Elasticsearch, and BigTable.

  • Implement continuous monitoring, tracing, and observability for AI agents using OpenTelemetry, Grafana, LangSmith, and automated alerting (PagerDuty).

  • Enforce policy-as-code and real-time security enforcement using Open Policy Agent (OPA), VPC, and private endpoints across Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and containerized environments.

Min requirements:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Cloud & AI Software Engineering, with a strong focus on operationalizing production AI/ML systems on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Proven experience building and deploying intelligent agents using Vertex AI, Agent Engine, and the Google Cloud Agent Development Kit (ADK).

  • Strong proficiency in Python for AI development, data processing, and API integration.

  • Hands-on experience with Model Context Protocol (MCP) design, implementation, and tool execution.

  • Solid experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) for automated, policy-driven cloud deployments.

  • Practical understanding of enterprise cloud security: Workload Identity Federation, RBAC, Open Policy Agent (OPA), VPC, and private endpoints.

  • Demonstrated experience with AI observability, tracing, and monitoring tools (e.g., OpenTelemetry, Grafana, LangSmith).

  • Experience with messaging frameworks and NoSQL data stores (Google Pub/Sub, Elasticsearch, BigTable).

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and written/verbal English communication for seamless global team collaboration.

Would be a plus:

  • Practical experience with containerized and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Google Kubernetes Engine - GKE).

  • Hands-on exposure to cross-cloud identity federation (Azure AD to Google Workspace integration).

  • Familiarity with real-time alerting systems (PagerDuty) and automated policy enforcement frameworks.

  • Experience in retail, supply chain, or high-throughput e-commerce platforms.

We offer:

  • Opportunity to work on bleeding-edge projects

  • Work with a highly motivated and dedicated team

  • Competitive salary

  • Flexible schedule

  • Benefits package - medical insurance, sports

  • Corporate social events

  • Professional development opportunities

  • Well-equipped office
