Senior Mobile Core Architect
You will join the mobile core team and take care of our cloud mobile platform. You'll manage network equipment including STPs, DRAs, HLR/HSS, SMSC, SGSN, GGSN/PGW, and SBC, use and build dashboards to spot issues and patterns, and follow communication procedures during incidents with internal teams and third-party providers. You'll drive telecom interconnection efforts with providers, handle maintenance, troubleshooting, security audits and emergency response, and use Wireshark to trace critical infrastructure for debugging. Occasional on-call work is required, and you'll work morning or afternoon shifts while interacting with external customers and internal teams.
Responsibilities
- Configure STPs, DRAs, HLR/HSS, SMSC, SGSN, GGSN/PGW, SBC, and other network equipment
- Build and use dashboards to discover issues and patterns
- Follow communication procedures during incidents, internally and with third-party providers
- Drive implementation of telecom interconnection with providers
- Perform maintenance, troubleshooting, security audits, and emergency response
- Trace critical infrastructure using Wireshark to debug issues
- Participate in occasional on-call rotations
Requirements
- At least 10 years' experience in the core network domain with mobile networks
- BSc degree in Telecommunication or Computer Science (post-graduate studies are a bonus)
- 10+ years core telecommunications network experience
- 10+ years of experience with SS7, Sigtran, Diameter, Packet Switched (GGSN/PGw, GTP, GRX, IPX, etc.)
- Experience with circuit switched communications protocols such as SS7 (including SCCP, TCAP, MAP and CAMEL phases 1 to 4), SCTP (SIGTRAN), Diameter, including ability to design and configure voice and messaging flows
- Experience with Voice SIP / RTP, ISUP and voice convergence technologies, including IMS (including VoLTE and VoWiFi)
- Knowledge of Voice Mail, IVR and PBX systems / softphones (secondary)
- Hands on experience with sniffers, Wireshark and testing tools in advanced mode
- Hands on experience with Linux/Unix based systems
- Understanding of 3GPP, ITU-T and ANSI standards
- Understanding of roaming agreements and IR.21, including IREG testing
- Experience with Online Charging System (OCS) and CAMEL in billing and call control
- Strong writing and documentation skills
- Fluency in English (written and spoken)
- Ability to work morning/afternoon shifts
- 2+ years scripting experience (Python, Bash, etc.) - nice to have
