Summary
Senior .NET developer (8–12 yrs) who will move point-to-point integrations with airlines, customs, ground handlers and banks onto an event-driven layer using Apache Camel and Kafka, fix performance bottlenecks, and add AI features. Core stack: ASP.NET/C#, SQL Server, REST/SOAP/EDI integrations.
Role & responsibilities
ur platforms exchange data with airlines, customs, ground handlers, forwarders and banks through many point-to-point interfaces built over the years. Some are slow, hard to monitor and fail silently, and users feel it as delays, rework and manual follow-ups. In this role you will move those interfaces to an event-driven integration layer on Apache Camel and Kafka, find and fix the bottlenecks that slow users down, and add practical AI features to existing applications. You will work directly with users and customers, so the measure of success is faster, simpler processes for them, not just new technology.
Preferred candidate profile
Must-have skills • 812 years of software development, including senior ownership of production systems. • Strong ASP.NET (4.x) and C# on the .NET Framework: web services (ASMX/WCF), Windows services and JavaScript. • Integration formats and protocols: REST, SOAP, XML/XSD, JSON, EDI, SFTP and message queues. • SQL Server: T-SQL, stored procedures, indexing, execution plans, locking and blocking. • Finding and fixing performance problems with profilers, APM tools, thread and memory analysis. • Proficient in AI-assisted development (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) for coding, reviews, testing, debugging and documentation, with judgement on verifying AI output. Mandatory. • Monitoring and observability for integrations: logging, metrics, tracing, alerting. • Turning user problems into clear technical options, explained in plain language. Good to have • Building AI features with LLM APIs • Hands-on Apache Camel in production: routes, components, EIPs, error handling and testing, with working Java / Spring Boot. • Apache Kafka: producers and consumers, topic and partition design, offsets, delivery guarantees, schema management. • Kafka Streams, Kafka Connect or Debezium for change data capture from legacy databases. • Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines and deployment on Azure or AWS. • API gateways and security: OAuth2, mTLS, rate limiting, OWASP Top 10. • Air cargo or logistics messaging: Cargo-IMP, Cargo-XML, customs and airline interfaces. • Experience modernizing a legacy system with the strangler pattern.
