Discussion

Summary

A senior engineer who designs and delivers secure network projects (Cisco routing/switching, SD-WAN, wireless, SDA, and Fortinet firewalls) for clients in critical infrastructure, leading design workshops, producing documentation, mentoring juniors, and joining an on-call escalation roster. Hybrid role from Port Melbourne or Bendigo.

We're expanding our engineering team and looking for skilled and experienced Senior Network and Security Engineers who thrive in complex environments, and enjoy tackling challenging technical problems. If you’re the type of engineer who gets energised by new technologies, enjoys continuous learning, and wants exposure to a diverse range of projects rather than repetitive BAU work, we want to hear from you.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Project Engineering, this role will see you as a member of a highly skilled team delivering a diverse range of projects in critical infrastructure environments. You will:

  • Lead technical design workshops with various stakeholders.

  • Design and implement a range of different secure networking technologies - including Cisco SDA - in both greenfield and existing environments.

  • Produce high quality documentation including network diagrams, detailed designs, implementation plans, change requests, and as built documentation.

  • Work a mix of different projects through a combination of leading larger projects with the support of the wider engineering team, working as a team member within large projects, and working autonomously on your own projects.

  • Work with leading technologies including Cisco (routing, switching, SD-WAN, wireless, security) and Fortinet (firewalls, VPNs, and SD-WAN).

  • Be responsible for planning and delivering your work within allocated budgets.

  • Collaborate with customers and internal teams to ensure delivery expectations are met or exceeded.

  • Provide subject matter expertise and input to the solution architects where required to improve scoping.

  • Providing leadership and guidance to junior engineers.

  • Be an escalation point for our managed services team for complex problems.

  • Contribute to the team knowledge base and other knowledge sharing activities.

  • Participate in the on call escalation roster.

What We Are Looking For

  • 5+ years' experience in secure network engineering, preferably in a systems integrator environment.

  • Someone who is equally comfortable working autonomously and within a team

  • Solid hands-on experience with a combination of:

    • Cisco routing & switching (CCNP or CCIE)

    • Cisco and Fortinet next generation firewalls or equivalent

    • Cisco Wireless (Cisco, Meraki or equivalent enterprise Wi-Fi)

    • Cisco ISE or competing NAC products

  • A multitasker that can switch between different complex projects as required.

  • Hands on experience with Cisco SDA and/or Cisco NDFC is highly desirable.

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Customer-first mindset with ability to work in high-pressure environments.

Certification Requirements (must be current)

  • Cisco CCNP minimum

  • Fortinet NSE4 or higher is highly desirable

Why Join Us?

  • ArchiTech is a Cisco Preferred Partner (Networking, Security, Cloud and AI Infrastructure), a Fortinet Expert partner, and an industry leading integrator in the healthcare industry.

  • Exposure to leading enterprise networking and security technologies.

  • Work and collaborate with a highly skilled and close knit team

  • Structured training and certification pathways (Cisco, Fortinet, and other technologies).

  • Supportive team culture with a focus on learning, innovation, and excellence.

Please Note:

  • You must have a valid Australian driver’s license and use of a personal vehicle to perform this role.

  • This is a hybrid role where employees are required to attend the office 3 days a week.

  • Successful candidate may choose to base this role at either our Port Melbourne or Bendigo offices.
