The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Senior Network Engineer to join a well-established technology team. The organisation operates across multiple locations, creating a varied and technically interesting network environment. The role will sit across both enterprise IT and operational technology, with responsibility for supporting reliable, secure and high-performing network services across the business.

This is a hands-on position where you’ll work across day-to-day network support, infrastructure projects, security initiatives and continuous improvement.

Role

You’ll be involved across the full network environment, from switching, routing and wireless through to firewalls, SD-WAN, VPNs and cloud connectivity. You’ll also work closely with internal technology teams, operational stakeholders and external technology partners to troubleshoot complex issues, deliver infrastructure projects and improve the overall network environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, maintain and support enterprise network infrastructure across LAN, WAN, wireless, SD-WAN, firewalls and VPNs.
  • Support network connectivity across multiple sites and operational environments.
  • Monitor network performance, availability, capacity and security, resolving complex incidents through effective troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
  • Support Microsoft Azure networking and connectivity across cloud and hosted environments.
  • Deliver network infrastructure projects, technology upgrades and lifecycle activities.
  • Maintain network standards, documentation, diagrams and operational procedures.
  • Support network security, segmentation, vulnerability remediation, disaster recovery and business continuity across IT and OT environments.
  • Contribute to cybersecurity and compliance requirements, including Essential Eight, AESCSF, ISA/IEC 62443 and NIST.
  • Work with telecommunications providers, technology vendors and managed service partners.
  • Identify opportunities for standardisation, automation, optimisation and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge sharing across the technology team.
  • Participate in critical incident response and out-of-hours support when required.
About You

We’re looking for an experienced Network Engineer with strong enterprise networking fundamentals and the ability to work across a complex environment.
  • 4+ years’ experience in Network Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise networking principles and technologies.
  • Hands-on experience across switching, routing, wireless, firewalls, VPNs and network security.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF and network segmentation.
  • Experience supporting multi-site enterprise environments and WAN connectivity.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with network security technologies and secure remote access.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across IT and operational teams.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in IT, Network Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
Experience with the following would be highly regarded:
  • Cisco, Aruba, Meraki, Fortinet, Palo Alto or equivalent technologies.
  • SD-WAN and cloud networking.
  • Microsoft Azure networking and connectivity.
  • Industrial networking and OT environments.
  • Network monitoring, automation and scripting using PowerShell, Python or similar.
  • Manufacturing or critical infrastructure environments.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, Fortinet, Palo Alto, Aruba, Meraki or Microsoft Azure.
