About the Role


We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Engineer to provide high-level engineering support across a large university network environment. The role will be responsible for the design, installation, configuration, management and ongoing support of LAN, WAN, wireless, Voice over IP and network security infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, support and administer LAN, WAN, wireless and voice network environments.
  • Install, configure and maintain Cisco routers, switches and network hardware.
  • Design and manage network security infrastructure, including firewalls, load balancers and VPNs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and infrastructure issues.
  • Provide Level 3 escalation support for complex network problems.
  • Monitor network performance, capacity, utilisation and security.
  • Support enterprise-wide network projects, technology deployments and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Maintain network documentation, including network diagrams and disaster recovery documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with internal IT teams, suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Participate in an on-call roster and respond to critical incidents when required.
About You
  • Degree-level qualification in IT, Information Systems or equivalent.
  • Relevant industry certification such as CCNP/CCIE, or equivalent experience.
  • Substantial experience designing and managing large multi-site networks with 5,000+ nodes.
  • Strong experience with Cisco routers, switches and network hardware.
  • Experience with Cisco IOS and NX-OS.
  • Strong enterprise routing and network troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience designing and managing enterprise multi-site wireless networks.
  • Experience with network security, VPNs and firewalls.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
Desirable: Experience with Cumulus Linux, PAN-OS, MPLS/VRF Lite, Linux administration, data-center virtualization, software-defined networking, load balancing and automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet and Git.
