- Serve as a specialist to establish and maintain NetBox as the authoritative enterprise network data source.
- Ensure accurate, trusted, and governed network inventory through automated discovery, data assurance, and integration with enterprise platforms.
- Review and analyze existing network data sources, quality, and data flows across network management, monitoring, automation, and ITSM platforms.
- Assess and improve NetBox implementation, focusing on data modelling, governance, discovery, assurance, and integrations.
- Develop and enhance NetBox to support enterprise network inventory and lifecycle management.
- Design and implement automated processes for network data discovery and assurance to improve data completeness and integrity.
- Define and maintain data models and enforce network naming conventions, taxonomy standards, and hierarchical structures.
- Establish processes and controls to keep NetBox as the trusted source of network asset, topology, IP addressing, and metadata.
- Design, implement, and enhance integrations between NetBox and network management/assurance platforms (e.g., Cisco Catalyst Centre).
- Develop integrations with enterprise platforms (e.g., ServiceNow) for CMDB population and synchronization.
- Create supporting automation, documentation, and operational processes for data quality and governance.
- Provide knowledge transfer and recommendations for ongoing platform and data ecosystem evolution.
- Enhance network data presentation, reporting, and governance controls.
- Perform network device baselining, configuration validation, and regular data-quality reviews.
- Expand network automation using tools like Python, Ansible, REST APIs, and potentially Terraform.
- Automate network discovery, compliance reporting, auditing, and configuration validation.
- Develop reusable automation workflows, operational runbooks, and controlled implementation processes.
- Implement new features and minimize repetitive manual tasks.
- Define and develop a strategic roadmap toward Network Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
- Propose and monitor service reliability measures (KPIs, SLIs, SLOs).
- Identify and implement opportunities for proactive monitoring, fault prevention, and self-healing automation.
- Collaborate with Operations, Security, Architecture, Platform, and ITSM teams to improve network resilience and reliability.
- Required skills: Strong networking fundamentals, hands-on with NetBox or similar tools, automation (Python, Ansible, REST APIs), monitoring/observability platforms.
- Preferred certifications: Cisco CCNP/CCIE, Juniper JNCIS/JNCIP, AWS Advanced Networking, and relevant NetBox/automation certifications.
- Success measured by improved network inventory accuracy, successful ServiceNow CMDB integration, increased automation, enhanced data governance, and delivery of a Network SRE roadmap.
