about the role
In this role, you will be a key pillar in the day-to-day administration and operational health of a robust, multi-vendor network environment. Your mission is to maintain high availability and security across various data centers and remote sites. Your key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the lifecycle of network and security assets, ensuring consistent 24/7 uptime for critical agency operations.
- Managing complex configurations and troubleshooting for a diverse environment involving high-end routers, switches, and load balancers.
- Hardening network defenses through firewall management (Palo Alto, Check Point) and managing Network Access Control (NAC) protocols.
- Proactively scheduling firmware updates, managing automated backups, and coordinating with stakeholders regarding system availability.
- Leading root cause analysis for network performance issues and collaborating with security governance teams to mitigate risks.
- Assisting the Infrastructure Manager in executing technical projects, change management, and maintaining comprehensive asset documentation.
skills and experience
- Extensive experience with Cisco (ASR/ISR series), F5 Load Balancers, and a variety of Firewall technologies including Palo Alto, Fortinet, and Check Point.
- Strong command over BGP, OSPF, STP, and VRRP, alongside a solid understanding of 3-tier architecture and VPN (IPsec/Remote) setups.
- Hands-on experience with Aruba ClearPass (NAC), IPS/IDS, and proxy solutions. Familiarity with security audits and risk mitigation is highly valued.
- Proficiency in using network performance tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, or Wireshark for fault analysis and reporting.
- While professional experience is paramount, certifications such as CISM, PCNSE, CCSE, or CCSA will be viewed favorably.
- A methodical approach to troubleshooting and the ability to manage vendor relationships and inventory documentation effectively.
