About the Role

Our client, a major ASX-listed insurance and banking group, is hiring for a newly created, permanent Senior Network & Security Service Specialist role based in Sydney. This is a genuine mix of hands-on technical work and service ownership, not a single-lane role: roughly half hands-on network and security engineering, a quarter automation, and a quarter service delivery and vendor oversight.

What You'll Do

Network & Security
- Administer and support firewall, routing, and switching infrastructure: Palo Alto, F5, Cisco routing/switching, Cisco ACI, and SD-WAN
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and security incidents as a technical escalation point
- Support the organisation's ongoing shift toward cloud-hosted services (AWS and/or Azure)

Automation
- Build and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform and Ansible
- Apply Python, PowerShell, or CI/CD tooling where useful to streamline operations

Service Delivery
- Support incident, change, and problem management processes
- Provide input and oversight into a managed service provider's technical delivery
- Contribute to platform architecture input and vendor governance practices

What You'll Bring

- Hands-on production experience with Palo Alto firewalls, F5 load balancers, and Cisco routing/switching
- Working knowledge of Cisco ACI and SD-WAN
- Working proficiency in Terraform and/or Ansible, or a strong, demonstrated appetite to build this quickly
- 5-10 years' experience in an enterprise technical service delivery role
- Comfortable operating in large-scale, on-premises and multi-cloud environments

Nice to have: AWS and/or Azure exposure, Python, PowerShell, or CI/CD experience, financial services or insurance industry background, outsourcing or managed service provider (MSP) management experience.
