Senior Operations Manager

The Senior Operations Manager - HPC is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of high performance computing data centers, ensuring maximum uptime, operational efficiency, and adherence to industry best practices. This role requires deep technical knowledge and leadership skills to manage a team of engineers and technicians while optimizing performance, capacity planning, and security protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all operational aspects of our high performance computing data centers, ensuring compliance with uptime, security, and safety standards.
  • Manage a team of technicians responsible for infrastructure maintenance, power, cooling, and IT support.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Monitor critical systems, ensuring proactive maintenance and troubleshooting of issues.
  • Collaborate with IT, network, and security teams to enhance data center reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, including ISO, SOC, and other relevant certifications.
  • Manage vendor relationships, service contracts, and procurement of necessary equipment.
  • Prepare and manage operational budgets for the data center.
  • Conduct performance analysis, capacity planning, and disaster recovery strategy implementation.
  • Lead incident management and root cause analysis for service disruptions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience managing Tier III or higher-level data centers.
  • Strong knowledge of data center infrastructure, including power, cooling, networking, and security.
  • Experience with industry standards such as Uptime Institute Tier Classification, ITIL, and ISO 27001.
  • Proven experience in leading teams and optimizing operational processes.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Excellent abstract thinking, as well as analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to cater to different audiences with diverse backgrounds, from junior staff to senior leadership
  • Self-driven individual, with attention to detail and ability to execute high-quality work with limited direction
  • Ability to deal comfortably with uncertainty and limited resources or information
