The purpose of this job
The Senior Operations Manager is accountable for the overall performance, service delivery, operational excellence and capability of the Corporate and International Operations function.
Leading a team of approximately 25 FTE through three Team Leaders (Onshore and Offshore), the role ensures the delivery of high-quality, compliant and efficient operational services across Corporate Health Insurance, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) and Overseas Visitors Health Cover (OVHC).
The Senior Operations Manager is responsible for achieving service, quality, risk and productivity outcomes while building a high-performing operational culture focused on continuous improvement, customer outcomes and talent development.
As the senior operational representative for the portfolio, the role partners closely with Sales, Corporate Relationship Managers, Brokers and key customers to support business growth, contribute to tenders and RFPs, resolve significant operational issues and ensure operational readiness for the new business opportunities.
What you’ll need to make it possible:
- Strategic leadership with the ability to lead through leaders and manage diverse operational teams.
- Strong operational management capability, including service delivery, workforce planning, performance management and operational governance.
- Proven ability to drive operational excellence, continuous improvement, automation and transformation initiatives.
- Highly developed stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships across internal and external partners.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to support business growth, customer retention and operational scalability.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including participation in customer meetings, tenders and RFP processes.
- Demonstrated capability in developing high-performing teams, coaching leaders and building succession pipelines.
What you’ll be doing in this role:
Operational Leadership and Performance
- Maintain overall accountability for operational performance across the Corporate and International Operations portfolio.
- Ensure strong operational excellence including delivery of agreed service levels, quality standards, efficiency targets and compliance obligations.
- Establish robust operational governance, performance management and reporting disciplines.
- Monitor operational health through leading and lagging indicators and proactively address emerging risks.
Strategic Leadership and Portfolio Management
- Translate business strategy into operational priorities and portfolio delivery plans.
- Establish the operational strategy and performance framework for Corporate and International Operations.
- Lead through Team Leaders to achieve portfolio outcomes and ensure consistency across onshore and offshore operations.
- Support achievement of business growth and retention objectives through strong operational partnership
Leadership and Talent Development
- Lead, coach and develop three Team Leaders responsible for onshore and offshore operations.
- Build leadership capability and succession pipelines across the function.
- Create a high-performance culture focussed on accountability collaboration, continuous improvement and customer outcomes.
