We are looking for a curious and driven Optical Engineer to join our Fiber Development team. We are open to hiring at both senior and non-senior levels, depending on your experience and expertise. Whether you come from industry or academia, your mindset matters most - curiosity, initiative, and a passion for exploring fiber optics and materials science.
The Role
In this role, you will take ownership of fiber design development from glass preform to specialty fiber. You will transform experimental and product insights into tangible product performance improvements with everyday work including
Characterization of fiber properties
Reliability testing and long-term performance evaluation
Developing deep understanding of processes and materials
Designing and operating advanced experimental setups
You will work hands-on with advanced optical systems and contribute directly to the development of next-generation fiber technologies. A core part of your role is to build a fundamental understanding of the physics governing fiber performance.
Your Profile
We are looking for a curious and analytical individual who bases decisions on data, enjoys diving into the details, while keeper the bigger picture in mind.
You are fascinated by deep-tech solutions and motivated by understanding the underlying physical mechanisms. Working with state-of-the-art laboratory equipment and simulation tools such as COMSOL, you will collaborate closely with our R&D teams to develop next-generation optical fiber designs and materials for fiber optical amplifiers.
You bring an independent approach to your work, with the ability to manage development or research projects from concept through execution and reporting. At the same time, you are a collaborative team player who values knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
A PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is expected, together with a genuine interest in staying up to date with developments in fiber optics, fiber lasers, amplifiers, and material science. A foundation in fiber optics and free-space optics, combined with hands-on experience in an optical lab environment is considered a plus, and that you are comfortable setting up and troubleshooting optical systems and enjoy working experimentally as well as analytically.
We offer an environment where you can shape technological direction and continue to grow as a technical specialist. Our team plays a central role in shaping our fiber solutions, and we are looking for someone who wants to make a meaningful impact.
