Senior Palliative Care Physician

Methodist Welfare Services (MWS) is seeking an experienced and compassionate Senior Palliative Care Physician to provide clinical leadership and specialist care for patients with advanced illness, frailty, dementia, and end-of-life care needs across nursing homes and home-based services. This role combines direct patient care, multidisciplinary leadership, clinical governance, professional supervision, and service development within the Integrated Home & Palliative Care Service (IHPCS).

Key responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive palliative and end-of-life care in nursing homes and patients' homes

  • Conduct clinical assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, and symptom management

  • Lead Advance Care Planning (ACP), goals-of-care discussions, and end-of-life decision-making with patients and families

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver holistic, person-centred care

  • Supervise and mentor nurses, locum doctors, and the Advanced Practice Nurse (APN)

  • Support quality assurance, clinical governance, and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of integrated palliative care services

  • Participate in stakeholder engagement and clinical collaborations to improve care outcomes

About you

  • Fully registered with the Singapore Medical Council (SMC)

  • Graduate Diploma in Palliative Medicine (GDPM) or equivalent palliative care qualification preferred

  • At least 5 years of post-registration clinical experience

  • Experience in palliative care, geriatrics, community medicine, home care, hospice care, or nursing home medicine is advantageous

  • Experience in multidisciplinary leadership, clinical supervision, and quality improvement

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and family engagement skills
