Senior PHP Developer
Summary
Lead engineering teams to design and build high-performance PHP applications using Zend Framework, Redis, and RESTful APIs, while mentoring engineers and shaping technical direction.
As a Senior Software Engineer III, you'll set the technical direction for our engineering team, defining the design patterns and frameworks other engineers build on. You'll work closely with product managers and architects to ship high-quality, high-performance applications, and you'll mentor engineers along the way. This role is right for someone who wants to lead through code and coaching, not just write it.
What you'll do
- Define the design patterns and frameworks the team uses to build solutions
- Build high-quality, high-performance applications that deliver a great user experience
- Write clean, maintainable code and automated tests that support continuous integration
- Lead system architecture and design reviews
- Give actionable feedback in code reviews and mentor engineers across the team
- Partner with product managers on user story creation and prototype validation
- Troubleshoot data and system issues as they come up
What you'll bring
- 7+ years of software engineering experience
- Strong PHP application development skills, including object-oriented design and performance-aware implementation
- Hands-on experience with Zend Framework in enterprise web applications
- Experience implementing Redis-based caching for performance and scalability
- Experience with SQL, RESTful APIs, and automated testing practices
- Comfort mentoring other engineers and leading design discussions
Nice to have
- Experience with JavaScript frameworks like Angular, Vue, React, or Backbone
- Experience with microservices architecture, Docker, or Kubernetes
- Familiarity with real-time data streaming (Kafka, Kinesis) or NoSQL databases
- Understanding of CI/CD tools and serverless computing (AWS)
