Senior PHP Developer (Symfony / DDD / CQRS)

Summary

Leads backend architecture for a Symfony-based system using DDD, CQRS, and event-driven patterns, mentors developers, and ensures scalable, resilient code under high load.

We are looking for a Senior PHP Developer with a strong architectural mindset to lead the development of our core systems.
You won't just be writing code; you will be responsible for the technical excellence of the product. You will design complex business domains, mentor middle developers, and ensure that our Symfony-based applications remain modular, testable, and resilient under high load.

What You'll Do
Design and develop new backend modules and services from scratch.
Make architectural decisions based on business requirements.
Build scalable and maintainable applications using PHP 8.3+ and Symfony.
Design domain models following Domain-Driven Design principles.
Apply CQRS and Event-Driven Architecture where appropriate.
Work with RabbitMQ/Kafka and asynchronous messaging.
Participate in code reviews and mentor middle-level developers.
Lead refactoring initiatives and reduce technical debt.
Drive testing strategy across Unit, Integration, and End-to-End testing.
Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams on technical solutions.

Requirements
5+ years of commercial PHP development experience.
Strong experience with PHP 8+.
Deep expertise in Symfony.
Strong understanding of software architecture and design patterns.
Practical experience with Domain-Driven Design (DDD).
Experience implementing CQRS and Event-Driven Architecture.
Experience working with RabbitMQ or Kafka.
Solid knowledge of distributed systems and asynchronous communication.
Experience designing modular or microservice-based systems.
Strong knowledge of relational databases.
Experience with automated testing (Unit, Integration, E2E).
Excellent communication skills and mentoring experience.
Nice to Have
Experience with Ecotone Framework.
Event Sourcing.
Outbox Pattern.
Saga Pattern.
Hexagonal or Clean Architecture.
Experience migrating legacy systems into modular, event-driven solutions.
Experience working with high-load applications.
