Senior Piping & Layout Engineer
Summary
Senior engineer in Angola designs piping layouts and systems for oil & gas projects, using PDMS, Navisworks, and AutoCAD while coordinating multi-discipline teams and ensuring compliance with Aker Solutions’ processes.
Job Purpose
To assist the Lead or Principal engineer in meeting project requirements and performing all technical duties in a highly competent and efficient manner. To be aware of and adhere to the Aker Solutions values, systems and processes including PEM, AKlMS, and MIPS.
Main Responsibilities
Organisational:
- Act in the capacity as Task Lead Engineer when assigned to do so within a project or contract.
- Act hour estimates via the Aker Integrated Management System (AKIMS) where applicable,
- Execute technical duties in a competent and professional manner and in accordance with company procedures
- Ensure work is completed on Schedule and within budget.
- Ensure project deliverables are generated via AKIMS where applicable.
- Review and check the work of others.
- Assist the lead or principal engineer in the planning, co-ordination and execution of the groups work activities.
- Liaise with other disciplines on design, construction, fabrication and commissioning issues.
- Provide added value to the development of their discipline/ function.
- Direct sub-ordinate engineers in their work.
- Assist the lead engineer in the compilation of weekly reports on progress via AKIMS where applicable.
- May have responsibility for the performance of others within their discipline/ function.
- Provide engineering and technical direction for drawing office personnel.
- Deputise for the principal engineer - provision of holiday, sickness cover when required.
- Coordinate and manage multi-discipline packaged equipment.
- Attend meetings as and when required.
Task Lead:
- Overall responsibility for the delivery of multi-discipline and or single discipline engineering modifications I project scope of works within a contract or a project.
- Manage the defined scopes of work provided by the contact/ project management team ensuring that the discipline scopes of work are fully defined and in accordance with the client's requirements.
- Accountable for the management of multi-discipline CTR's I man-hours ensuring that the correct levels of productivity are being maintained by involved disciplines.
- Overall responsibility for the delivery of multi-discipline and or single discipline engineering modifications / project scope of works within a contract or a project.
Technical:
- Prepare engineering concepts and develop into detail design.
- Carry out manual and computer analysis.
- Prepare CTR estimates for mechanical scopes.
- Prepare construction and commissioning procedures.
- Familiar with the aspects of HAZOP / HAZID
- Review and comment on vendor information and assist with inspection and testing.
- Carry out
single and inter-discipline checks and reviews.
- Review and check subordinate engineers work.
- Carry out onshore/ offshore survey and answer site queries.
- Basic knowledge of design software such as PDMS, Navisworks and Autocad.
- Prepare construction and commissioning procedures.
- Familiar with the aspects of Pipe Stress Analysis
- Familiar with the aspects of Pipe Supports < 1 tonne
HS & E Responsibilities:

Requirements
COMPETENCE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Educated to HNC/HND level in engineering discipline
- Educated to degree level in engineering discipline
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer
- Current Offshore Survival Certificate
- Current Offshore Medical Certificate.
