We are seeking a strategic, results-driven attorney who possesses exceptional litigation skills, sound legal judgment, and the ability to independently manage a substantial caseload while mentoring junior attorneys and contributing to the firm's continued success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Litigate single-plaintiff and multi-plaintiff employment disputes, including class actions and representative PAGA actions.

  • Develop and execute comprehensive litigation strategies designed to maximize favorable outcomes for clients.

  • Draft, review, and argue complex pleadings, motions, discovery, and other litigation documents.

  • Conduct and defend depositions, including depositions of corporate representatives, executives, and expert witnesses.

Class Actions, Wage & Hour, and PAGA

  • Lead complex employment class actions involving wage and hour violations, including unpaid wages, overtime, meal and rest period violations, off-the-clock work, wage statement violations, and other California Labor Code claims.

  • Handle representative actions under California's Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA).

  • Develop class certification strategies and prepare complex class certification motions.

  • Analyze payroll records, timekeeping data, employment policies, and other evidence to evaluate liability, damages, penalties, and settlement exposure.

  • Collaborate with economists, statisticians, and other experts when necessary.

  • Negotiate and structure class action and PAGA settlements and oversee the applicable court approval processes.

Wrongful Termination and Employment Claims

  • Handle wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and whistleblower protection claims.

  • Litigate claims involving violations of the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), California Labor Code, and other applicable employment laws.

  • Evaluate complex factual and legal issues to develop effective litigation and settlement strategies.

  • Prepare clients and witnesses for depositions, mediation, arbitration, and trial.

Leadership and Case Management

  • Provide strategic direction and oversight to associate attorneys, law clerks, and litigation support staff.

  • Mentor junior attorneys in litigation strategy, discovery, depositions, motion practice, and settlement negotiations.

  • Conduct substantive case reviews to ensure matters progress efficiently and deadlines are met.

  • Collaborate with firm leadership on case valuations, settlement strategies, and litigation priorities.

  • Maintain consistent communication with clients regarding case developments, expectations, and potential resolutions.

  • Ensure adherence to court rules, ethical obligations, internal procedures, and firm-wide case management standards.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

  • Minimum of 7–10 years of substantive employment litigation experience, with significant plaintiff-side representation.

  • Demonstrated experience handling complex employment Class Actions, Wage & Hour Litigation, PAGA, and Wrongful Termination matters.

  • Strong knowledge of California employment laws, including FEHA, the California Labor Code, and applicable wage and hour regulations.

  • Proven ability to independently manage complex litigation from case inception through resolution.

  • Substantial experience conducting depositions, drafting dispositive motions, managing discovery, and negotiating settlements.

  • Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, legal research abilities, and litigation judgment.

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • First-chair or substantial trial experience in employment litigation.

  • Successful track record securing significant settlements or verdicts in plaintiff-side employment matters.

  • Extensive experience with class certification, PAGA claims, complex settlement negotiations, and judicial approval proceedings.

  • Experience practicing in both California state and federal courts.

  • Admission to practice before the United States District Courts in California.

  • Experience supervising and mentoring junior attorneys and litigation teams.

  • Strong familiarity with mediation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution.

  • Ability to evaluate complex damages models and collaborate effectively with financial and statistical experts.
