Description

Madison, North Carolina | Onsite

Are you an accounting professional looking to broaden your experience in a hands-on, fast-paced manufacturing environment? Pavement Maintenance Group is seeking a Senior Plant Accountant who enjoys connecting accounting with inventory, production, purchasing, and day-to-day plant activity.

This role is well-suited for someone with several years of progressive accounting experience who is ready for greater scope and influence. It can also be a strong fit for an experienced plant accountant who prefers meaningful, hands-on work over a narrowly specialized or heavily managerial position.

Our Carolinas region operates with the ownership and agility of a smaller entrepreneurial business. You will work directly with regional finance and operations leadership, gain visibility into how the entire business operates, and have a meaningful voice in financial and operational decisions.

What You'll Do

In this role, you'll be a key financial partner to our plant team, owning and supporting a broad range of responsibilities, including:

Managing monthly financial close, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, reporting, and variance explanations
Supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash reconciliations
Maintaining accurate inventory and manufacturing costs
Participating in physical inventories and cycle counts
Investigating inventory, material, usage, scrap, production, and purchasing variances
Maintaining fixed assets and other financial records
Assisting with pricing, margin analysis, budgets, forecasts, and operational reporting
Partnering with production, purchasing, sales, payroll, and plant leadership
Reviewing timecards and coordinating accurate regional payroll submissions
Supporting audits, compliance, internal controls, and process improvements
Looking beyond the spreadsheet to help solve problems at their operational source

What We're Looking For

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent relevant education and experience
Progressive accounting experience with strong general-ledger, journal-entry, reconciliation, and financial-statement fundamentals
Manufacturing, inventory, cost-accounting, distribution, or other physical-product experience preferred
Strong Excel skills and comfort working with ERP and reporting systems
A practical, investigative mindset and confidence asking questions when the numbers do not make sense
Strong communication, accuracy, follow-through, and deadline management
A curious, collaborative, low-ego approach and willingness to help wherever the operation needs support
Willingness to work onsite, engage with the plant, and participate in physical inventory activities

Why Join PMG?

Whole-business exposure: Understand how accounting, inventory, production, purchasing, pricing, sales, and plant performance connect
A seat at the table: Work directly with regional leaders and contribute to meaningful decisions
Broader ownership: Expand your experience across financial accounting, cost accounting, and operational finance
Team environment: Join a tight-knit, hardworking group that supports one another and enjoys solving problems together
Visible impact: See how your work directly influences plant performance and business decisions

This position is onsite because the work, relationships, and decisions are in Madison. If you want broader responsibility, meaningful influence, and an opportunity to understand the business from the plant floor up, we would like to hear from you.
