Senior Platform / Cloud SRE Engineer
Summary
Senior SRE/platform engineer on an infrastructure and cloud operations team supporting airline operations (systems like Navitaire). Day to day: managing VMware, AWS, Azure, and GCP environments, performing root cause analysis on complex incidents, monitoring health and capacity, and automating ops with PowerShell/Python/Bash while mentoring L2 engineers.
About the role
Join the infrastructure and cloud operations team to manage, optimise, and improve the reliability of critical technology platforms. You will work across VMware, AWS, Azure, and GCP environments, resolve complex incidents, automate operational processes, and contribute to resilient technology services supporting airline operations and systems such as Navitaire.
Key responsibilities
Manage and troubleshoot infrastructure, virtualization, and cloud platforms, including VMware, AWS, Azure, and GCP.
Perform root cause analysis and resolve complex infrastructure incidents.
Monitor system health, availability, capacity, and performance.
Develop scripts and automation to reduce repetitive operational tasks.
Improve monitoring, alerting, operational procedures, and service reliability.
Support incident, problem, change, and capacity management.
Provide technical guidance to L2 engineers and collaborate with other technology teams.
Contribute to service improvement initiatives involving observability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
What we're looking for
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud operations, systems engineering, or platform support.
Strong experience in server administration, virtualization, and at least one major cloud platform.
Knowledge of Windows and/or Linux administration and infrastructure monitoring tools.
Experience with scripting using PowerShell, Python, or Bash.
Background in airline operations and systems or applications such as Navitaire and others.
Good troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
Exposure to SRE, DevOps, or Platform Engineering practices.
Knowledge of SLI/SLO, root cause analysis, observability, and toil reduction.
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code, Kubernetes, or container technologies.
Relevant cloud, VMware, or ITIL certifications are an advantage.
