Senior Platform Engineer — AI & Data Platform

NewBe an early applicant

The Senior Platform Engineer – AI & Data sits at the convergence of IT infrastructure and business operations. This individual is responsible for owning and operating the platform that powers Oakbridge’s agentic AI and data ecosystem.

Working closely with the CIO, internal teams and external development partners, this role ensures that all systems built on the platform are reliable, secure, observable and maintainable long-term. The Senior Platform Engineer will lead the development and management of CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure and integration frameworks that support AI-enabled workflows and enterprise data flows.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role focused on platform engineering, governance and production readiness – not pure development, SRE or vendor management.

Work Performed

Platform Ownership & CI/CD

· Own and manage CI/CD pipelines across a TypeScript monorepo (pnpm/Turborepo, GitHub Actions)

· Implement environment promotion strategies, staging/production parity and controlled releases with rollback discipline

· Establish and enforce engineering standards that ensure long-term maintainability

Cloud & Infrastructure (Azure)

· Design, build and maintain Azure-based infrastructure including serverless compute, durable workflows and event driven systems

· Manage services such as Azure Functions, Durable Functions, Service Bus, Azure SQL, Entra ID and Key Vault

· Implement infrastructure-as-code using Bicep or equivalent tooling

Agentic AI Platform

· Operationalize agent-based workflows using orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangGraph or similar)

· Implement observability and evaluation frameworks (e.g., LangSmith or equivalent)

· Support multi-provider LLM integrations, tool-calling patterns and MCP server infrastructure

· Ensure production-grade deployment discipline for AI systems, including versioning, monitoring and cost management

Platform Reliability and Observability

· Monitor system health using tools such as Application Insights

· Establish observability across both system performance and AI decision quality

· Manage database migrations, systems resilience and production stability

· Support ongoing evolution toward a fully Azure-native architecture

Integration & Data Flow

· Build and maintain shared integration libraries enabling consistent interaction with core systems (agency management system, ERP, communication platforms, lakehouse)

· Ensure reliable authentication, error handling and audit logging across all integrations

· Partner with data teams to support effective data flow into analytical platforms

Security & Governance

· Enforce least-privilege access, secrets management and identity controls

· Ensure auditability, PII protection and compliance with governance standards

· Establish review gates and deployment controls to maintain platform integrity

Builder Enablement

· Enable internal and external engineers to effectively build on the platform

· Provide onboarding, documentation and technical guidance

· Review code and validate deliverables from development partners to ensure production readiness

Who You’ll Work With

· CIO – Owns platform architecture and strategic direction

· Data Analyst – Partners on data modeling, pipelines and analytical outputs

· Business Systems Team – Provide domain expertise and operational workflows

· External Development Partners – Deliver scoped engineering workstreams under your technical guidance

What This Role Is Not

· A pure development role (external partners provide development capacity)

· A pure SRE role (this position includes hands-on engineering and platform design)

· A vendor management role (focus is on technical oversight, not commercial ownership)

· A people management role on day one (team grows over time)

· A research role (we ship production systems a small team can operate)

· 7+ years in platform engineering, DevOps, or backend engineering

· Deep, hand-on experience with Azure (Functions, Durable Functions, Service Bus, Azure SQL, Entra ID, Key Vault, Application Insights)

· Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines in a TypeScript/Node.js environment (GitHub Actions, automated testing, release management)

· Proficiency in TypeScript/Node.js with ability to review code and contribute when needed

· Experience deploying and operating agentic or AI-driven workflows (LangGraph or similar, tool-calling, evaluation frameworks, model/version management)

· Working knowledge of modern data architectures (lakehouse preferred, Databricks a plus)

· Experience with event-driven systems and operational-to-analytical data pipelines

· Strong understanding of security, identity, secrets management and compliance practices

· Experience working with external development partners or system integrators

· Ability to balance hands-on technical work with platform governance and oversight

Preferred Education & Experience

· Experience in the insurance or financial services industry

· Familiarity with enterprise systems such as ERP or agency management platforms

· Experience supporting AI/automation initiatives in production environments

· Exposure to M&A integration and multi-entity system environments
