Senior Platform Engineer (RedHat and Kubernetes)

Summary

Build and maintain on-premise Kubernetes and RedHat OpenShift clusters, automate infrastructure with Ansible/Python, and ensure secure, high-availability systems for mission-critical public safety applications.

As a Senior Platform Engineer, you are a primary technical contributor responsible for building the services, tools, and processes that enable our engineering organization. We are looking for a "builder" who thrives in bare-metal and virtualized on-premise environments. You will lead complex technical projects, mentor junior engineers, and ensure our on-premise stack is automated, secure, and highly available.

The On-premise Infrastructure Engineering team is responsible for:

  • Design and implementation of local CI/CD pipelines within dedicated on-premise environments.

  • Development and operation of common platform services—centered on RedHat OpenShift and Kubernetes.

  • Full-stack ownership: Managing the physical and virtual layers, including Networking, Storage, and Compute.

    Responsibilities will include:

    • Implementation: Lead the end-to-end deployment of RedHat OpenShift and Kubernetes clusters on private hardware.

    • Automation: Build and maintain "Infrastructure as Code" (IaC) pipelines to automate server provisioning, OS hardening, and application deployment.

    • Troubleshooting: Serve as the escalation point for complex networking, storage, or container orchestration issues.

    • Security & Compliance: Implement security best practices (CIS hardening, SELinux) for air-gapped or highly secure on-premise environments.

    • Performance Tuning: Optimize Linux kernel parameters and network configurations for high-throughput, low-latency Public Safety applications.

    • Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and conduct rigorous code/configuration reviews for the engineering team.

    Qualifications:

    • Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in Systems Engineering, Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) with a heavy focus on on-premise environments.

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).

    • Infrastructure Depth: Proven track record of deploying and maintaining production-grade Kubernetes or RedHat OpenShift clusters on bare-metal or virtualized private hardware.

    • Linux Expertise: Strong command of Linux internals (storage, networking, process management) and the ability to debug issues across the entire stack.

    • Network Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Data Center Networking fundamentals, including switching/routing, load balancing, and firewall rule implementation.

    • Automation Mindset: Experience replacing manual operational tasks with automated workflows using Python, Ansible, or similar tools.

    • Critical Thinking: Ability to work in an agile environment and handle the high-pressure demands of maintaining mission-critical Public Safety systems.

    • Collaboration: Strong communication skills with the ability to document complex technical architectures and mentor junior team members.

    • Strong level of curiosity and interest to learn

    • Self motivated and able to maintain focus in a pressured environment

    Primary Skills (Must-Have)

    • Orchestration: Expert-level RedHat OpenShift (OCP) & Kubernetes.

    • Operating Systems: Advanced Linux Administration (RHEL preferred).

    • Networking: L3/L4 Networking, BGP, Load Balancing (NGINX/HAProxy).

    • Automation: Ansible, Python, and Shell scripting.

    • Version Control: Git & GitOps (ArgoCD or Flux).

    Nice-to-Have Skills

    • Storage: Software Defined Storage (Ceph, Rook, or ODF).

    • Virtualization: VMware vSphere or KVM management.

    • Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack.

    • Certifications: CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator) or RHCE.

    • Security: Experience with CIS Hardening and STIG compliance in air-gapped environments.

In return for your expertise, we’ll support you in this new challenge with coaching & development every step of the way. Also, to reward your hard work you’ll get:

    • Contract of Employment (UoP)

    • Private medical coverage with dental package

    • Life insurance, MultiSport card

    • IP Tax Relief

    • PPE (Employee Pension Plan)

    • Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)

    • Yearly salary increase and annual bonus

    • Flexible working hours

    • Comfortable work conditions (high class offices, parking space, volleyball field on site)

    • Trainings and broad development opportunities

    • Great team atmosphere (small scrum teams)
