Senior Platform Engineer with Azure

- Being a passionate Platform engineer, you care about defining tech stack for business applications together with our team of software architects
- Build and evolve a cloud-native platform running on Azure, serving multiple product teams
- Design and maintain Kubernetes-based infrastructure
- Develop and extend the platform operator - a custom Kubernetes operator that manages application lifecycle, status reporting, error handling, and reconciliation logic
- Author and maintain Helm charts and Terraform modules for provisioning Azure resources
- Work on the sidecar architecture - configure routing, CORS, proxy ports, path rewrites, external service integration, and direct responses
- Contribute and operate to the authentication and authorization layer
- Contribute and maintain the observability stack, Grafana-based
- Maintain and extend Azure resource modules and Azure Storage Account provisioning
- Develop and improve the App Catalog - an internal service registry with frontend and backend components, statistics, mail notifications, and automated update jobs
- Enable and maintain schema-driven configuration handbooks, onboarding automation, and application scaffolding
- Contribute to technical documentation, knowledge sharing sessions, and platform-wide improvements across multiple product teams
- Working in an Agile team using Scrum methodology and their derivatives (SaFE, LeSS)
Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and other Agile/Scrum ceremonies to ensure high-quality deliverables and on-time project completion - End-to-end responsibility for application development
- Stay updated with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to continuously improve skills and contribute to the team's success
What should you bring along
- University Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business or a related field
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a similar role is required
- Advanced knowledge of OOP, Algorithms & Data Structures
- Solid experience with Kubernetes
- Hands-on experience with Azure cloud services, particularly:
- Azure PostgreSQL Flexible Server (including backup/restore strategies)
- Azure Storage Accounts
- Azure resource provisioning and management across multiple environments
- Strong proficiency in Terraform for Infrastructure as Code
- Experience with Helm charts
- Solid understanding of GitOps principles and deployment workflows (e.g., ArgoCD, Flux, or GitHub Actions-based GitOps)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, ideally GitHub Actions
- Good understanding of networking and proxy configuration
- Experience with authentication and authorization flows
- Familiarity with observability and telemetry*stacks: Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, Tempo
- Nice to have:
- Experience in development with Java SE 17+
- Experience with operator patterns in Kubernetes (custom controllers, reconciliation logic, error handling)
- Good understanding of software design principles, design patterns, and best practices
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Excellent English verbal and written skills
- German communication skills will be a plus
